Weed and memory loss

I smoke a lot causing my short term memory to be horrible. I'm wondering if i quit smoking will my short term memory go back to how good it used to be before i smoked?

I used to smoke 6 or 7 times daily, lost shit and couldn't remember things constantly... recently quit for a month and it's improved so much, it's ridiculous. After being baked pretty much constantly for two years I forgot what it was like to remember things well, it was pretty badass. I've started smoking again and it hasn't gotten worse yet, but it will soon enough. First time I smoked after the break though... ohh my GOD, that alone is worth it haha.

if you smoke A LOT then it may take as long as 6 months for all of the THC to stop clogging up your synapses, but you will notice improvements in your short-term memory over time.

i know when i stop blazing around exam time and whatnot my brain feels a lot more fresh, and that may only be for a 2 week period

in college we always joked adout drugs and alcohol and losing brain cells. let me sum it up for you.

it works liek natural selection, yes you are killing off brain cells but they are the slower stupider ones, so by killing them off you are actually making yourself smarter.

haha that is my story and im sticking to it

I have a terrible memory but when I started smoking I remembered things more often than when I didn't. Now that I've quit it's back to forgetting small shit all the time. I never misplace important things but if I don't think about something for a week, I can't remember where the hell I put it. I also forget to do chores all the time now. When I smoked I had no problem remembering to do things and I had more motivation to get them done. I guess it goes to show that everyone is different.

No I don't lie. It's all about how the chemicals effect your body. Some people react differently than others.

Some people get happy when they drink, some people get sad, some get angry... but if you drink enough, the end result is that you're gonna pass the fuck out. Chemicals affect everyone differently, but they all have the same basic effect. Weed fries brain synapses. That's how it works.

bascal;ly i ms pha vent smoked aasine funcking afoot ball aseaswon anda u ia hasrill have fmemroy losss.,.m but ai athin ait that it s getting bettere ra bit by bit

my friend from work was a terrible chronic, and he says that his memory has improved by like 400% when he just recently went cold turkey. ive noticed a change in him too, its good.

good analogy, but its not quite accurate. weed does nothing to permanently damage your actual brain synapses, otherwise all brain functions would be altered, leaving you retarded. it just temporarily slows down short term memory formation when used constantly. normal brain function is restored when you quit smoking weed, as shown by the many posts in this thread

i remember when i was doing crappy in the begining of grade 8, then i started smoking weed and my grades went up, so ile agree with the heard theory

yea dude, it will have that effect on you. i would go with the herd theory on this one tho. it sounds logical, that means it must be true

bingo

the THC essentially clogs and blocks your synapses, but it dissolves over time so no effect is permanent, unless you smoke so much weed that the THC completely isolates brain cells thus killing them... but that is a rare occurance

i noticed a slight decrease in short term memory, mainly calling someone and forgetting who i was calling, but that was about it. smoking is definately something that should be saved for when you're older. imagine how much more memory you could explore if you smoked for the first time when you were 30 versus when you were 15.

Word, I didn't know the science behind it... I just knew that my short term memory sucked when I smoked a lot and didn't when I stopped.

Bro I smoke about a quarter a day and I have a great memory. I guess for some people its just different. I don't feel like I have gotten any dumber since I have started smoking. I feel like since I have started smoking that I have become more creative and calm. I used to freak out all the time about the littlest things but now I am a lot more chill and relaxed.

I always forget who I am calling, and most of the time I have to look at the phone to remind myself who I am really calling. I have basically always been doing that. I really only forget things when I am high, because I end up doing something else, and forget what I was just doing. When I am not high, I don't notice a difference in my memory at all. My short term memory actually got better this summer, but that is probably because I don't have to remember anything for school.

I mean yes you forget things all the time but thats because they are not important. Though you will notice you will never forget to smoke up in the morning. Why because that my freind is important.

weed acts differently fo some people. some will have huge memory loss. but it will come back. i quite blazing about 3 months ago, and before i would b soo zoned out on everythinng. but u feel so much fresher when ur not blazing

i feel like with alot of the stress put upon kids these days its inevitable for adhd wild people like alot of us skiers to smoke weed just to kinda reset and slow it all down for alittle bit after sitting in a building for 6 hours listening to teachers talk about some whack shit...but the worst part about it is how some d bag hater adults beat it into our brains that if u smoke weed or do any drugs ur fuckin done and u will never be the same..thus leading to the creator of this thread and myself being scared as fuck which isnt a good way to proceed with the rest of ur life in the first place
