KUSA

- A relatively powerful storm system will move into Colorado this

weekend bringing rain, snow and cold temperatures. Even the metro area

could see snow.

9NEWS

Meteorologist Ashton Altieri says the storm will move over the

mountains by Saturday evening spreading accumulating snowfall from

Steamboat Springs to Telluride.

A WINTER STORM WATCH has been

posted for most mountain areas from Saturday evening through Sunday

afternoon. The watch includes Breckenridge and all of Summit County, as

well as the entire Interstate 70 corridor from Idaho Springs to the

Flat Tops near Glenwood Springs.

Most high country locations can plan on 6 to 12 inches of accumulation by late Sunday.

Ashton

says the storm will push a cold front over Denver and the Front Range

on Saturday evening. Light rain is possible but not likely after 5 p.m.

in the metro area on Saturday.

The chance for precipitation

will increase around the metro area Saturday night and as temperatures

become colder; the rain will change over to all snow by Sunday morning.

Depending on the exact track of the storm, the metro area could

see the first accumulating snowfall of the season on Sunday, according

to Ashton.

As of Friday afternoon, snow totals are expected to be minor especially with the ground still relatively warm.

It will also be very chilly along the Front Range on Sunday with highs only in the upper 30s to around 40 degrees.

Ashton

says we should expect temperatures in the 30s under cloudy skies for

the Broncos game against the Steelers Sunday evening. A few light snow

showers or flurries are also possible during the game.

If it didn't warm up we'd have sooo much snow.

Can't complain. At least there is some.
