Wearing 2 pairs of ski socks?

I was wondering if anyone has tried doubling up on ski socks for a really cold day? how does it work? does it help keep your feet a little warmer? It's going to be cold as balls this weekend at Jay Peak so i'm willing to try anything

Get full tilts and shut the fuck up.

Boot jokes aside, I think there might be too much play in your boots with double socks. Do your feet really get that cold or you just expecting that you'll need the extra layer?

Toe warmers could work.

i wear 2 pairs of sock sometimes but thats just cause my feet are fucked up but i find that is is a bit warmer just personal choice for me

i think it would make your feet colder. my feet stay warmer with the thin, tight ski socks and i think that's the point of ski socks.

dont use 2 pairs of socks. the second pair cuts off circulation in your feet, and you will end up being colder. get a pair of the thin sticky toe warmers (the ones that stick to the bottom of you socks) and you will be fine

may god have mercy on your soul. it's def gonna be way too cold to ski this weekend. then again I'll just be depressed studying for midterms. I do believe an extra layer of socks works+toe warmers=warmth.

i'm wearing 2 pairs and my ski boots right now, the first layer is really thin and the second layer is the thicker wool sock and it seems pretty cozy, my feet don't seem to be moving around in my boot and the socks aren't bunching. I don't seem to be loosing circulation in my feet either... but obviously all this changes when you're actually out there on the hill

Assuming well fitted boots - 1 pair of thin socks will give you better circulation and warmth than 2 pairs.

Also 2 pair of socks created some pretty bad friction so you could expect to get some blisters on your feet - not the best.

same with me, used 2 socks for last year and a half it works fine for me. put the smaller sock on the inside and a thicker one outside and if they get cold release a buckle for the lift and wiggle till they're warmer. the sticky footwarmers work well also if its super cold

intuition liners/full tilts liners are the best solution but thin socks and thin toe warmer are the best solution, two pairs off socks= bad idea.

blood wont flow as well and they'l freeze faster.

thick socks cut off circulation for me, and my feet freeze. I just unbuckle my boots when riding up the chair to get blood flow going again, and then I can have them tight as possible for skiing and my feet stay warm for longer.

one time, i wore two pairs of socks, but then i couldnt move my feet at all inside the boot, so i think that made them colder

i wore two pairs the other day. i don't know if it would've helped, my sister had one pair on and she was fine.

no doubling for me cuz otherwise it cuts off the circulation and you have to much play in your boots more pley = worse performance i just go with cotton ankle socks.

true, i jsut wear ofx river socks and sure, my feet get cold but not nearly as bad as they would with 2 layers, jsut use foot warmers

most sources recommend not to wear two pairs of socks because it can be too tight and hinder circulation and work against keeping your feet warm. if you boots are big it might not be a problem but if your boots fit i would suggest getting little sock liners and a nice big thick wool sock.

buy polypro sock liners. as long as they are loose, and you are not too tight i think you get the layer, and if there is no circuilation problems than why not

i always wear two pairs of socks but i use those sock liners and they tend to work really well. to help circulation i just loosen my boots way up. seems to work

For the really cold days, I just use one pair of thin socks, but that was a comparatively 'warm' -20 C.
I think that you could probably get away with a thin liner and a thin sock, but I've personally never doubled up. My boots are tight enough as it is, that unless it's super cold I rock no socks.

Never wear two pairs of ski socks. Feet will always be warmer with just one pair, and a well fitted boot.

If you can even fit your feet in your boot with two socks on, you might want to consider some new boots that are either the right size or aren't all packed out. I like wear a thick stocking material... my boots are really tight but I love it because I can feel every little point of my skis. I can't imagine what having two socks would be like...

two pairs of socks makes your feet colder becuase there is less room in your boot when you double up your best bet is to get toe warmers

say my boots are too big because they packed out. not buying new boots. would two pairs help them fit better or just create more room to move around. Not worried about getting cold because i dont have a vagina. Its just when i butter and lean super forward my flexy/too big boots just flex forward and i can put all my weight into the skis. Same with nollies and nose presses.

Dont fucking say full tilt either.

wearing two pairs of socks isn't going to make your feet any warmer and is just going to give you mad blisters on your toes cause your feet can rub more. what you need to do is wear more layers on your upper body (chest and legs) to keep the blood warm, then your toes will be fine.

I Skiied Okemo on Sunday and it was a solid 10 degrees out. I have problems with circulation in my feet, so it makes it even worse. I don't think I could even fit toe warmers or double socks into my boots. By the end of the day when I got off the mountain at around 4, my feet weren't even cold anymore, I just couldn't feel them.... and for about an hour after I got off the mountain I couldnt feel them, but everything ended up alright.

it will actually make your feet more colder because there is less space in your boot for the air to heat up. try putting on a few socks and putting them in your sneaker and then go out. you will feel the difference.
