We need your advice: NS Movie

Well it actually sounds it could be good! I for one am very stoked. My buddies and I will probably submit an edit, depending on when the deadline is.
 
Dude....I am not the one making the edits...I'm simply re-editing them so that everything looks good...so that the fonts look the same and the videos are compressed together...I won't be re-editing them in my own style, I will be keeping the exact same cuts, songs, etc...

Personally, this thread isn't about whether or not it can be done, because that has been addressed...I said I want your advice with the above topics, and if you don't have any input, just don't pay attention to this thread.
 
any idea as to when we will be able to start submitting videos?

or when the rules and guidlines will be figured put?
 
don't exclude the pros. if they want to submit they should be allowed and judged just the same. It's an NS movie and they are here all the time and equal members just the same as everyone else with a number.

I don't think that you really need to give away any prizes.

I might be wrong but aren't the top skiers on here who will most likely be the ones chosen all be sponsored anyway? So prizes aren't going to be such an incentive to them.

And at the end of the day just about everybody who enters isn't going to be entering for prizes it will be to get into the movie.

Unless of course you have a big cash prize lined up which i doubt
 
We don't have cash yet, that is the plan for next year...the prizes will go to the editor...and he can decide what to do with them
 
ok...Anyone can enter an edit, we are not limiting it anymore...but the top production companies like Level 1, rage and pbp are not allowed to enter an edit...because that would just be unfair
 
i agree that most people should enter. i mean i dont think that most of the pros would enter anyway or even hear about this. we should be safe here.

ok so you could have someone slidin a rail and they go out of the picture, then the next person comes in the picture for the next segment, if that makes sense....
 
Ns shirt idea sounds sweet, but a story line wont work because were using old footage from the season that has just passed so people cant film now so it fits the story line.
 
i'm not quite sure i fully understand this... i feel like it's going to be 20-30 minutes of random edits with no flow whatsoever. even if your going to keep the same font the whole movie, the whole thing pretty much needs to me edited by just 1 person, everyone has their own different editing style and i feel like 7 different editors would not work at all. and also youre going to have all different types of footage too, FX1, vx1, and $200 shitty handycam footy do not look good all mixed together.

second is i'm really not sure who is going to send footy in.. almost every legit crew is saving their own footy for their own movie.. stept, ski block, NIG, 4bi9.. etc.

i'm not trying to bash this, just trying to bring up some possible flaws that need consideration. this idea has come up many times before and it's good to see that someone is really trying to run with it. good luck, and if it comes out dope then I tip my hat to you.
 
most of these problems have been solved already. dave is going to solo edit the final thing and he came up with a solution for the whole different film thing.

and yes the good crews are going to save their footy but there are a lot of other talented people on this site that probably will send in some stuff.
 
so crews are going to send 20-30 minutes of raw footage in high quality? that will take years.
 
no. each crew will send in an edit of 6 minutes of their bangers we will all vote on them to decide which 5-6 edits we like the best to be in the movie. then dave will edit their edits into one large 20-30 minute movie.
 
if you want continuity between the edits you could showcase the region that each edit came from by zooming in on a map to the region/area/mountain that edit came from. For instance, after the intro an image of the western US appears then zooms towards Oregon and the Mt. Hood area. After that edit finishes it could jump to the East Coast and zoom in on an East Coast resort (sorry I can't htink of any). AFter that edit the focus would shift to another area and so on and so forth.
 
Great idea but I think the music should be considered when judgeing. Often thats what makes or breaks an edit. If you include the music in judging and just put the edit into the movie as it was submitted it will make the contest feel much more like just some kid who loves skiing made it. And I think that is the essence of your idea?
 
well that arises a whole other problem.. re-editing an edit = beat.. you cant use the raw footage audio, and it really limits the potential to how far you can edit.

i think he mentioned something about ftp which would be a lot betetr im sure.
 
ok, sounds pretty cool i guess, you should just tell people which font to use, and edit limit should be 5 minutes. im assuming it's okay to use footage that may already be in edits, cause a lot of us have already posted edits from the season (obviously they would be reedited for this)
