We need to do somethng about Gear Talk

I think we should make some new forum rules to sticky in there. Something along the lines of "don't make threads asking about what looks good." Or maybe do it in the form of a "How to ask for clothing/outerwear advice". And it should be enforced mercilessly.

All the legit questions are getting buried by a shit-show of "What looks sick with this jacket?" and "Rate my setup. Does it look cool enough?" It makes me sad.

Thoughts? Suggestions? I feel that this valuable resource is getting abused and wasted.

I feel you on that. I rarely go in there anymore because when i actually have a legit question it gets maybe one good response, then is hidden under all that garbage.

^Jesus christ that is embarassing.

And I agree with OP. I usually end up heading to TGR or somewehere else for gear talk/reviews.

just don click on the threads if you dont like it

Gear talk is about 90% jiberish/saga/FD and about those three brand its 100% sizing/shipping/colors/claim threads

I fully agree GT has gone to shit

I know right. Everybody knows you don't wear a tall t over your hoody, that's just dumb. Tall t's need to be under your hoodie and no more than 1-2 inches longer than the hoodie.

I normally ignore this stuff, but to a certain extent. It's gotten absolutely god awful recently. I've seen unbelievable amounts of "which Saga setup is the coolest -k for hate!!" and so many more. They should be terminated immediately.

I saw some less than quality threads in Gear Talk as well.

It really has made me lose interest in that portion of the Forums. I think that if it were filtered a bit more thoroughly, then maybe we can get a Gear Talk that is a bit more relevant and on the level of TGR's.

If you want to have a gear talk forum like TGR's just use theirs. If kids want to know which tall t looks best with their saga where else are they going to make a thread?

I agree, as it has been said before I think it would be wise to separate it by hardgoods and softgoods. Hopefully that would at least filter out some of the junk.

I saw this and a couple others and just reached a tipping point. The hardgoods/softgoods setup seems like a decent idea, especially considering how well the b/s/t split has worked. The only problem I have with that is that there are people asking legit questions about softgoods, and it isn't fair to them that they will get completely buried in the cesspool of uselessness it will probably become. I think we should try to solve this with a sticky first, and follow it up with some merciless moderation. But if that doesn't work, the split is probably the best plan.

i have to agree, but even the hardgood shit is getting rediculous,

should i remount my ar7's from -2.5 to center?

i cant count how many threads i see about ar7 mounting point, use the effing searchbar already, ok well the searchbar sucks, what about google?

i try and try to contribute to good threads in gear talk, but every day i go in there i get more and more disgusted.

https://www.newschoolers.com/ns/forums/readthread/thread_id/639298/but sellin ns stickers to clueless steezetards is way more important than actually creating something usefull

Go with gear talk and fashion advice. That way if it is a legit outerwear question it can still go in gear talk.
