well, my statement about them not living off the coast of madagascar, and living in the atlantic remains correct even in light of what you have said. i dont dispute the fact that they live in the pacific as well, and are less of a 'heard' or 'pod' sort of whale than perhaps the humpback or the mink... in fact, i find them to be rather akin to the blue whale, in their predominatly solitary roamings... i do beleive, that the blue whale is predominatly found in the atlantic is it not?

i think we should dedicate the rest of this thread to the discussion of large marine mammals.

It's my understanding that there are 3 areas with large Blue Whale populations, in the North Pacific (California up to the Gulf of Alaska), North Atlantic and around Antarctica. They found one washed up on Vancouver Island once.

there was a pilot whale carcass that washed up on the beach in oregon in the 70's and they tried to dynamite the carcass to get rid of it... but when they did, huge chunks of whale flesh flew everywhere and crushed cars and whatnot. they dont dynamite whale carcasses anymore i dont think..
