If you trace our political history back, there is one key component that the Founding Fathers left out of the constitution, something so key to the success of our government. The two party system. Over the years around a hundred different third parties have grown and died, but the Republicans and Democrats have survived and grown to be so dominant that they practically cancel out the existence of other parties. The point of the two party competing system is competition. One party remains in power while the other criticizes it, post revisionist sure, but necessary to analyze and investigate issues. Competition breeds progression. Hell just look at skiing for proof.
Every Republican keeps citing - 'oh but Kerry voted for the war!' Of course did, nearly every senator did. Why? Because of the evidence presented to them. At the time, there SEEMED to be no reason why we shouldn't go to war. However, as time went on, Bush's war doctrine has gotten holes shot all over it. Thus, the change in heart.
Then why vote for Kerry? Because in my opinion Bush has done a foolhardy job of navigating this country through one of the most treacherous wars in recent history. We need fresh faces. Bush's entire cabinet is narrow minded in general, and if you look at people like Oneil, different opinions are hardly tolerated.
Of course Kerry doesn't have a solid platform, no candidate walks into a race shouting out his values and plans and strategies for the future. Those things take time to develop into a platform. As we move closer to the election we will see Kerry solidify his platform.
There's alot more to say, but I've got to get to work.
