WE A Collection of Individuals Review!

I was expecting you to be some eleven year old kid living in wisconsin who hits rusty rails and 4 foot tabletops all day and calls it "skiing". But nope, your profile says you live in alaska, which usually means you should appreciate gnarly lines as well as insane urban. You must just have an extra chromosome.

First time I saw it, I thought that skiing was a step up for PBP (especially the urban), but the music pretty much ruined the whole movie for me.
Second time I watched it, I really, really enjoyed it. The skiing was super crazy and I liked some of the songs better. But honestly what the fuck songs were used in Mike Henitiuk (spelling I know) and Josh Stack's segments, they were shit.
Main other thought: I was let down by Dane's segment (don't get me wrong his shots were sick) I guess he had built up some of the highest expectations for me from the past 3 years.
top parts for me:1. Leigh Powis2. Sean Pettit 3. Cam/Clayton4. Karl F5. Legs of Steel Crew6. Dane and I really liked Sammy's shots on that feature
the opening segment was awesome too
I AM A BIG FAN OF THIS MOVIE
p.s. please don't open with Bobby Brown next year, he's good I know, bit mix it up.

It takes a lot to make a ski movie of this proportion & with that many top name skiers it is not going to be cheap, music is pretty expensive to license also. Their budget was probably coming down to the wire toward the end so they tried to keep the songs inexpensive.

Ok I take back Sean Pettit being #2
I think he's in or around the top 5 for me, but most of his shots were the same: 3's off huge cliffs w/ steep landings.

Yah Karl's 2 lip disaster and sessioning that death trap of a feature that only one other person hit (T-hall once) was def. less impressive than doing 3s into soft and endless pow landings... did you even watch the movie or did you choose to ignore what was going on?

I have trouble comparing this movie to other years. There are parts that are better, parts that were worse, parts that i wish would have been put in that weren't. When it all comes down to it, no movie will ever be another Every Day is a Saturday for me, so ill always be slightly disappointed.

I seem to missing something here, I didn't really think EDIAS was that good... sure parts of it were amazing like all recent PBP movies but as a whole I was pretty indifferent.

I sort of feel the same about WE to be honest, amazing in parts (in fact most of the skiing was sick) but as a movie it didn't hold together. I want to repeat, the skiing was amazing. I will watch Leigh and Karl's parts a lot of times.

I also thought the idea was kind of cool, focusing on the different crews and showing them each doing their own thing. But the filming/editing and music styles of the sections were so different that it didn't blend at all. 'WE: A Collection of Edits' would have been a more appropriate title.

The fact is that Stept looked way better in 86, if the shots they gave PBP were all in 86 then that would have made an amazing movie even better.

LOS will certainly look better in Hurt So Good, Sean Pettit will have a way better part with MSP and I would love to see Theory-3 make a comeback.

^ mate. you need to get up with skiing. we dont need snow any more! It all about concete, metal and mud. soon we will be able to do it in summer and then you will know whats up! better recognise goldfish! the water in your bowl is changing!

are you aware the purple is the international gay colour ?

I actually wouldnt mind seeing one more segment of this so called skiing .. it would be where you skied into one of these walls head first !

Sick argument attempt bro. Yes I watched the movie, that's why I posted in this thread. If you made a list of the top performances I wouldn't make a sarcastic comment inferring that only my opinion is right by asking "did you even watch the movie or did you chose to ignore what was going on?".

And if you're going to try to call someone out on the internet, you might as well read all of their posts. That way you wouldn't sound as stupid, even if you're trying to shoot down some kids opinion.

The concept was so gay, they were all saying things that we already know about skiing with you friends and it was exagerated, but Cam and Clayton part was so sick, just like fostvedt part and Leigh Powis did the craziest trannys I've ever seen. But there was too much powder just like every PBP movie IMO

I'll agree with that. It was super sick, and really technical. It reminded me of Shane McConkey billygoating type stuff from years ago, ledge to ledge drops where you have to be incredibly precise with each turn/drop. It takes amazing skiing ability to put together something like that.

I liked the movie overall. Pep had the best segment, although Riley, Josh Stack, Dane and Petit killed it too. I would have liked to see a few more shots from Dane, and Petit and Bene Mayer too.

I don't watch the urban stuff, so I can't help anyone there.

I meeeeaaaaannnnnnn Jennifer has a point. Karl for sure had the MOST banger segment in the movie with the best song. Unfortunately his sponsors weren't big enough to get him opener or closer.

I see where he is coming from, and respect his opinion but my point is that it isn't so easy to "do 360's into soft powder landings" let alone in the middle of a line.

Yeah because tomahawking in snow is really as much of a risk as tomahawking onto a metal pole suspended above cement... or missing a feature altogether and landing to flat, groomed snow from 25ft. up...

1. you can't tomahawk on a rail.

2. try overshooting a cliff and landing flat from 50+ feet. even though there is rarely more than a couple inches of fresh snow when you're skiing big mountain (I don't expect you to know any of this), landing from that height at that speed to flat or close to flat in even a foot of fresh blower pow will fuck you up. Not to mention tomahawking down a slope that steep will surely fuck your head up for a short amount of time and could easily smash you into any rocks in your path or even land you straight in a crevasse.

1. Tell that to Steve Stept.

2. I highly doubt you've experienced that either... regardless, how could he overshoot to flat when he has a thousand vert of landing or fall into a crevasse when there were none anywhere near his landings?

I might as well use that argument to say that Karl is way gnarlier because at any point sliding the rail a cop could have shot him for trespassing or that he could have landed on an AIDS-infested street walker.

Poor Boyz has gone no where but downhill since EDIAS. WE was wack. Not worth wasting your time on.

i know right?leigh's segment, sooooo wack!

karl's segment, sooooo wack!

pep's segment, soooo wack!

clayton n sean j, what were they thinking? that urban was sooooo wack!

and the list goes on for how wack this movie was.

i was stoked on WE!

and the grand bizarre, sammy's and dane's segments were so wack i just broke the dvd in half!

i mean, the skiing was great, the filming and editing and flow of the movie, not so much. WAR is still the best PBP movie ever

You really might as well not even bother.

Just be happy with the fact that you're right.

To those of you on the other side of this, whatever floats your boat. But I have to ask you guys something: Does the fact that Tanner Hall went on that rant about real mountains mean anything to you? I mean, if someone that accomplished in urban/park considers Sage the best skier in the world (he has said that before, at least) and wants to ski in real mountains does that mean anything to you guys?

WE: A Sunny Dream Factory of Eighty Six Homosexuals, that Act Natural because it Hurt So Good getting buttfucked by Superheroes with Stoke!

Saw it at Freshtival last night, Leigh, Karl, Clayton, Sean and Cam all had such sick segments, some really nice shots with those 5 guys last year. However, the rest of the movie felt super bland, and the whole thing felt put togeather really poorly. Also I do wish that Banks had got more shots with them. Wasn't hyped on it nearly as much as Sunny, now that is a movie that's truly worth your time if anyone's still debating which one to get.

It just didn't feel that great after seeing the stetp movie, which was amazing. The whole "WE" focus on riding with friends didn't really come through that well, the music seemed wrong for the segments, and the hype with Red Bull Media House being so involved didn't float my boat. It felt like an easily forgettable movie, while the 86, Act Natural, Sunny, and Education of Style all seemed like groundbreakers.
