WE A Collection of Individuals Review!

definitely better than last year. nice to see Pep make a comeback. it's hard for me to really get into PBP films because they follow too many crews. the movies end up feeling disjointed. the soundtracks don't help, either. they did a good job this year, though.

cant stop wishing a ski movie had as good of cinematography and music and mind blowing riding/creativity as art of flight... no hate and im sure i will get shat on for this post but its how i feel so fuck off.

dear lord, leigh is a fucking transition investigator. a few of those shots it didn't look like there was tranny to be found, but he fucking found it. 10/10.

Overall it was a good. There were a few standouts in my mind:

Leigh Powis: Duh, but I thought last years segment was better.

Karl Fostevedt: Solid debut segment. Of course to ski bowl feature was ridiculous

Kids, and LOS: IMO they stole the show. I think the Kids went a little long, but Josh Stack was a huge standout. I'm going to watch this to get me motivated on the treadmill.

I was disappointed in Dane, and Sean Pettit's segments. I still think that Dane's EDIAS seg is his best one to date. And Pettit's seg seemed to be lacking when compared to his MSP stuff.

All in all. Real good ski porn. Support the athletes and the film makers that give us this kind of stoke.

some amazing skiing, and I liked the look of the movie (colors, and overall quality of the "film"). Leigh, Karl, Pep, the stept guys, Heni, Stack....all absolutely destroyed shit. Banks had some money shots, and on and on.

I thought it got bogged down in the middle, sort of like in Revolver, with the Theory 3 marathon segment. It's weird, Journal is a masterpiece in my eyes, and I like all of the skiers in that crew, but when there's a 15 minute block devoted to them and their sessions, I think it gets a little monotonous and repetitive.

My major gripe is this though: PBP has pretty much subcontracted out their entire movie, and it shows. Basically, the movie is made up of mini-movies (Theory3/KIDS, Stept, LOS, and than a banner park shoot) which for me made the whole a little less than the sum of its parts. It almost seems like the theme "WE: a collection of individuals" is a contrivance brought on out of necessity and the title is some kind of apologetic acknowledgment of the fact that nothing really connects segment to segment, and that the movie is pretty much a collage of many different people's work/ideas (I know that doesn't SOUND like a negative, but somehow it is).

I'd rather watch a Theory3, LOS, or stept movie as a whole. This flick for me felt more like a Warren Miller Ent. movie where they literally just compile a bunch of footy from other, smaller co.'s and throw it together and throw on some narration.

I mostly really enjoyed the movie, thought the music was a nice switch up, dug the urban and appreciated the big mt skiing, but overall—as has become typical for me and PBP's flicks—it left me wanting a bit.

Still, absolutely worth the 12.99 for the hd digi download, no regrets, and I suggest everyone cop up asap.

leigh had such a good seg!! all in all the movie was pretty dope and had a great vibe. skiing was sick and so was style. definitely worth a buy. some of the music just wasnt my style but nothing horrible! give it a watch!

the best of the movie

last shot of pep fujas at the beginning, sammy carlson, leigh powis, last rail of cam riley, karl, and max morello at the credits

I really liked Pep's seg and Karl's seg, but I honestly thought the best was Sean Jordan/Clayton Vila. that was an incredibly sick part.

Uhhhh...

PBP allowed a LOT of rider input into how it was edited this year and it seems weird to you that they were "grouped" together with their homies?

There is some play in certain riders getting certain seggys (closer had to be a red bull athlete for example) but overall to say every part was "subcontracted" is absurd and I think you have too much time on your hands to think up all this crazy shit.

I don't know what the fuck all you guys are talking about, but I thought GB last year was incredible. Where did all this hate come from..

I never liked PBP until last year when I saw GB. GB won best film at IF3 too.

Despite all that, not really interested in seeing WE, if you keep emphasizing all the different mood thing.

Best PBP video in years.. every segment was top notch but, IMO, the biggest stand out was Karl. Newcomer dropping the gnarliest urban, BC, and park... SO FUCKING SICK!!

If you'd stop being such a sensitive little girl for a second you'd realize that just because one film is better than another that doesn't mean that people hate the lesser film. If you've seen the older PBP movies you'd understand why their recent films fall short of people's expectations but again that doesn't mean that they hate it.

Shut it with the "OMG like why are people like hatinggg? its like so gooood stop hatinggg!"

I'm super stoked to see PBP still making movies after all these years and I hate to be negative but this is definitely the most disappointing movie I've ever seen from them. It just didn't have the same vibe, excitement or even editing style as previous movies. I'm not sure if Jonny D has slowed his role in the company but he could totally capture what skiing is all about and get you amped to go out and shred in all his previous films, this one didn't have that. I actually ended up falling asleep about 15 minutes in. The music was weird and nothing really flowed well together. There were no stories shared, no climatic scenes, no contest footagethe pep segment was nuts but good have been so much more. I know what it's like to have something you created criticized so I'm sorry to bash, what I do hope is that you can turn things around and release another rocking movie next season. Thanks for keeping it real.

Just watched it for a second time. The same things stood out. Mike Henitiuck spine line is so tech. I'm sure it is under appreciated here.

Most of my observations from the first time through hold up.

I'm going to say that Dane Tudor and Sean Pettit were not used to their full potential. Maybe it was how they were shot, or maybe it was how it was edited. I can watch Danes EDIAS seg over and over(and I do). And anything that MSP has done with Pettit has been magic. Not so much with this movie.

Still worth buying though.

BTW, some outerwear company besides FD PLEASE sponsor Josh Stack.

WE is sick! love the skiing! however, i know its all about the skiing but the music in movies make a movie have a certain vibe. the vibe i got from SOME segs in this film wasnt that great, however, other segs were so sick!

just wish the music was more like GB or EDIAS

just my opinion

For me it was unquestionably the worst PBP movie to date. A collection of individuals' talents that are similarly unquestionably high, but whose potentials were somehow poorly represented, backset to what might be the most uninspiring, mediocre soundtrack assembled along with a completely forced, yet inane supposed storyline. If you insist on having athletes talk that are much better known for their ability to ski, at least make it non-trivial.

Not a sliver of desire to watch it a second time. I am (maybe was) an ardent and loyal PBP fan since State of Mind, but this was a huge disappointment.

I expected more! not that I regret buying it, but I got the feeling that something is off.

As said, sick spines, and some crazy trannys by Leigh!

Maybe you had your eyes closed during the insane stuff and also completely forgot that we had one of the worst snow years in history...
