i need ot know if new skis are waxed from the factory because iam thinking mine arent because you can feel like meaching grovves on the beases they are armada ar5s 170

I think only race skis and rossis come with a factory wax... maybe some others as well, but the wax sucks.

Rewax before it hits the snow, multiple times if you're anal about preserving the condition of your bases.

well, up to you how you want to treat your skis. I wax em after almost every snow day, that's how I take care of my shit.

there is hardly a company out there that sells consumer skis that don't come ready to ride, with wax. Aside from fischer and few other companies that use a wax/baking process , the factory wax isn't well penetrated.

As far as general upkeep of your skis , there is so much to be said about a well waxed base for the conditions, in nearly every aspect of skiing. ie. Flowing through the powder, not sticking, gaining ever ounce of speed in a short inrun, or long table, stomping landing riding away with speed. Also a well saturated base will help the longevity of you base. Waxing is well worth it.

They are supposed to have these grooves. I'm surprised nobody has said that yet. When you ski it melts the snow, and the water has to go somewhere. These grooves achannels the water away in a sense. In laymens terms, it makes you go faster. You can re wax them if you want but it will still be there, and you want it to be. If I were you I'd leave it be for a ffew days then wax them. If you were to get a base grind that is the structure they would put into your base. It is not from the "machine" or whatever that made the ski, it is intentional. Get learned noob

You don't have to wax skis to go faster...
ski wax is for protecting the base; without wax it becomes brittle and prone to scratching and getting "hairy"
in theory your ski will be the fastest on clean Ptex however when ptex isn't wax saturated it absorbs all the dirt that's on the snow (snow is dirtier than you think) and it becomes slower, so in that way waxing skis will make you faster because the wax acts hydrophobic and sheds any dirt or water from the ski...
these two things combined leads us to the current standard for waxing, and that is, hotscrape to get the dirt off ( = faster ski + better for the base)Saturate base with wax (base becomes stronger and will take more abuse)scrape + brush base to get the excessive wax off and get the clean Ptex + base structure...

so to come back to your question on wether or not wax factory skis; you choose; the skibase is probably not saturated but it'll glide just as well as a properly waxed ski...only argument i see for waxing new skis is that you saturate the bases even more and thereby prevent excessive chipping etc...

I always wax new ski - basically because i have no idea if the factory wax was legit. do it my self to make sure of tings!
