Waxing New skis?

So somebody told me that ski companies put factory wax on their skis and you should ski on this for maybe a couple of days then rewax them properly. Apparantly the factory wax is just shitty wax used more to protect the skis before they actually get used, is this correct or should i wax up my brand new skis before i use them. Iv got reno rockers, so i was wondering about them, cheers

This is true, the wax is to protect and store the skis, so you want to re-wax for sure. it's ideal to put the storage wax at the end of the season, then re-wax a day or two before your mountain re-opens, this way your bases don't get dry and you keep them in good shape.

if u didnt put a storage wax on is that ok? i wax my skis a lot during the winter and there in good shape normally every 1-3 or 4 ski days

its always a good idea to use a wire or acrylic wax brush on new skis. This does two things, first it drives the wax deeper into the "pores" of the ski, and two it removes dirt or anything caught in the wax. You don't have to wax them right away, but I would def right them for two or three days (even just light jibbing or backyard) and rewax them properly. Also you don't have to put a storing wax on, but its a good idea. If you do just make sure you scrape them and rewax them before use.
