So if I'm waxing my bases, do I have to remove the excess wax on the bottom by scraping it off, or will it come off throught the course of the day while skiing? +shitloadsofk

you have to scrape. have you ever waxed your skis before. im assuming your going to be using an iron? anyways just drip some wax on the skis...always better to have too much than too little...iron the bases until the wax is spread out on the base. always keep the iron moving on the skis. longer you iron the better, gets the way deeper into the base. now, i would HIGHLY recommend getting some fiberlene. with fiber lean you just rip a sheet off, set it on your tail or tip, put the iron on top of it, and slowly drag it to the opposite end. fiberlene absorbs the extra wax off the skis and any dirt. might take a couple passes but the end result should look very smooth and clean. if you dont have fiberlene then yes you have to scrape, and scraping sucks. just search youtube, theres a lot of tips and how too's, but defiantly invest in some fiberlene. saves a ton of time and gives a much better finish.

heres a vid showing a couple different ways to wax your skis

Yes, finally said fuck paying for it, I can do this shit like a big boy. This was super helpful, you just grabbed yourself some karma, same for you rhinoballz.

i kind of like scraping,

before you wax clean the bases with soap and water and a wire bush if you have one, especially during spring

the iron should be just hot enough to melt the wax, too hot fucks with the bases chemistry

wax is absorbed into the base, the excess on top is just going to slow you down so scrape it all off

Ya so do I.

You can also clean your base by melting all the wax on and then scraping it off while it is still warm and wet. This pulls a lot of the dirt from the bases and then do it again but let it harden this time.

it is better to scrape it off so that there is no excess wax on the base. that said, if im in a hurry in the morning, i occasionally will wax just before i put them in my car and just let the snow rub it off on the hill. its a bit slow for the first few runs, but after that its fine
