Waxin your own skis..

how many people wax there own skis? it seems like all the people i talk to say that they get a shop to do it...why not just do it yourself and give it that "personal touch" ??

i just layed down a fresh wax job on my new skis...the real question is...shop?? or garage?

i do, probably save so much cash, but i wax after each time i ski. way easier because you don't have to drive to the shop either so it saves a bit of time.

working in ski shop, i dont really have that dillema. I work in a chill shop, so i go in, turn on the music have a beer, and take care of my shit. But before i worked there i would have deff. done it in the garage.

i do my own. way easier and save so much money. i only bring mine in for tuning and stuff

i used to in high school cuz i could use my ski teams shit for free, now I'm too lazy to buy an iron and wax and shit so I just dont wax. or occaisonally if it's really slow i'll throw on some of that stuff that you can just put on and let it sit overnight. it actually works pretty good, but generally I just dont bother waxing at all. at 175 lbs speed for jumps and shit isn't usually a big issue.

i was just waxing my stuff in the dorm hallway and some girls came up and asked me, "why are you buring soap onto your snowboard?" probably the most traumatizing thing i have ever been asked

do everythign for myself, tune and wax and set bindings, so much easier and easy to learn, also u can make money off of it

people tell on you? but yeah i wax my own skis, much cheaper and i do a good job. but here's a good story. i had some old swix wax that had just been sitting in my room for years. now, it was my first time waxing and i didn't know what to expect. well the damn literature was in swedish or some shit. i couldn't read it but it was cross country wax. i ended up waxing my skis with fucking cross-x wax. it was awfull. it took me hours and days to get it off. i got so pissed. now i know what its supposed to look like.

basement in my "tuning" room, comprised of all my shit and a wobbly ass coffee table

yeaah i wax my own skis as well. It's sooo much cheaper and quicker!

Def. worth the investment...or find a good friend to mooch off of! Thanks ben!

Wax your own!

Waxing your own is 500% cheaper, uses better quality wax and does a better job than taking your skis to the shop.

If you dont... you are gay.

This is a good reason why people should race. You get to learn about servicing your skis so much better.

we waxed a friend's skis with xc wax as a prank. we re-waxed like 10 times to make sure it was in there really good. took him like 3 weeks to get it all out, and even now if he doesn't wax enough sometimes it'll go down to the stuff really saturated in the base and his skis get all sticky again. pretty funny

yea i wax my own skis, over the past few years Iv built up a kit that cost me way to much cash but i can fix nearly any ski disaster know to man

haha.

i did it at my high school...in florida.

lol.

they said the same thing to me.

"why are you ironing soap on those things, btw what are those things?"

the fumes in the hallway were crazy, but i didn't get in trouble.

but we fix surfboards and shit in the class so it didn't matter.

I do a full out tune every time. It's the only way to go. I even bust out the LF if i can get it out of the "box"

I have liquid wax that I just keep in my pocket and then whenever they need a wax it takes like 1min 37seconds

i once bought a thing of that zardoz teflon stuff. its so useless. it keeps your skis fast for maybe one run, but after that its completely gone
