whats the best technique to hot wax skis? i ask because i am having trouble with some swix wax i just bought. what does everyone do?

use an iron to melt the wax onto the skis..then use the hot iron to spread the wax on the surface of the ski(making sure not to keep the hot surface of the iron in contact with the ski's very long) then I'd recommend buying a wax scrapper..and then use it to scrape the excess wax off the ski until you get an even coating..some wax scrappers also include a small cut out portion where you can use to clean the wax that remains on the edge of the ski...good luck man

You can also make your own wax scraper by getting a piece of plexiglass and cutting it to size and making your own 'dent' in the corner of it to scrape off the edges.
