Hey! I was wondering what wax you guys like to use the most, if it is easy to apply,and if not how do you apply it, and what it works best in.

 
one ball jay high flouro! its the same as swix and toko stuff, but a lot cheaper. as far as appying it, i crayon it on with an iron, iron it, scrape it after its cooled to room temperature, scrape it, then brush it (horsehair then brass)

why in the fuck do you use a brass brush after you wax that is for use before you wax to help clean and add texture to the base. you horsehair it then scotch brite it

i use base cleaner. then melt swix. then i shave it and last i rub it w/ a brush

I use swiz universal, pull out the Toko iron, drip the wax on, quickly smooth it out, let it cool, scrape, and ride.. use wax remover every other wax to clean the bases.

I use some swix cold and i have an old iron from like the 70's. the problem is tht our temp went from 10 to 60 this week so when i went skiing i could not go anywhere. I would just start going down the hill and i would stop, even on the steep stuff plus it was like skiing in a melted snow cone

 
when my old skis got really sticky, i didnt wanna waste money on them, so i rubbed a candle on the bottom and it worked for about a week

Someone asked how you know when to put wax on. The easiest way to tell (only if you have black bases) is your bases will begin to have some 'white' coloring on them. In other words, the pores of your base are beginning to dry out, you need to apply wax.

As for cleaning, clean whenver you have time. If you're not a racer who cares...just put some wax on there so you move and your bases are protected from bullshit in the snow like grease and chemicals from acid rain (or snow in this case).

 
wax protects base from possible rail 'bruises' and it protects whatever u meet on the snow u don't know about. Also if u have enough wax on, ur edges won't touch the rail, therefore no possible damage. Then again if u have that much wax u prolly can't move
