Wats the best ski for eastcoast BC??

i heard armada el reys are the "go anywhere" ski...not many people have tried em out (including me) but i heard theyre narsty on anything

i say often the opposite. very tech lines, really narrow and steep too. sometimes the snow is good, other times it isnt.
 
I'm sure there is i was just referring to that picture. And if there is so much BC on the east, why doesn't anyone on here ski it? EC kids always say they want to ski pow and such they just can't? But some like you claim tech lines and pow? I'm confused.
 
Easy. Laziness.

It takes work and effort to find the stashes and sweet spots. Most of NS is too lazy to go trekking to find it.
 
So can I legitly call people park rats on the east coast now? Cause I've been waiting to do it.
 
definately technical, i searched that pic cause POWDER just did an article on the kitchenwall at stowe. Most of what they said about it is it's dangerous and you better know where the f-ck your going, they advised skiing with a local and in the next sentence said good luck getting a local to show ya around. They made a good point about responsibility though, it seems to me the east coast is more tight ass about insurance and suits and legality BS. They mentioned most locals won't tell ya where to find this stuff for fear of being held responsible for people going back there and getting killed.

But ya the article was full of warnings because if you got the wrong way a lot of these lines end in nasty cliffs or rock fields and such.

Who cares I say, I'm heading back to stowe this year for some f-cking hiking up on mansfield. I may have to pussyfoot around a bit and be careful but I'm sure it will be more rewarding than skiing groomers and gawking up at the rocky top of mansfield.

I meant to say people that say "i only ski park cause there is nothing else to ski" call them park rats.
 
Go for it absolutely call it like you see it. Besides most of those lazy rats wouldn't even know how to turn in the trees and deep stuff. These are probably the same kids hounding their mountain to put a rope tow in the park so they don't have to hike 100 vert. feet.

Ugh. Stowe is way legit if you know what you are doing.

And there is terrain worth hitting on Powder days everywhere. Just need to know where to look, and have the will to do it.

There's even some stuff hidden in spots here in Western New York if you're willing to work for it.
 
Stowe is the fucking shit. Every time I go there I have more fun than the last time. Is that pic you just posted on the back side? I'd love to ski that. We spent a whole day hiking around and it was fun as hell!
 
I grew up on the EC and there's a reason I moved out West. There are some scattered steeps and cliff bands along with some decent snow, but they can be real hard to get to if you don't tele. Skodeo is right tho, no doubt there is some very techy stuff, ever see Last of the Mohicans? Picture snow on the ground and try skiing a chute through a forest that thick.

EC kids might as well admit they ride park most of the time, so what,? Claim that hard, park is the impetus of progression, the reason skiing became cool again.

Overall, comparing the Appalachians to the Rocky Mtns, Wasatch Front or Coast Range is just rediculous, there's no point.

To the thread creator, I would recommend some Seth's, ARV's, Scratch Brigade's or even PE's, all very versatile skis.
 
I agree. No point in comparing west to east, but there is bc skiing around the east, and there is challenging shit if you look for it.
 
mmm that whole part of stowe can be mad sketch, kitchen wall? if anybody dies in this area its usually in there...sketch cliffs and such, but so sick if you know what you are doing.
 
sugarloaf in maine has above treeline skiing if that counts

A mother reported her 13 year old son missing when he did not show up at the end of the day while skiing at Mt. Mansfield. They were to meet at the Toll House area at 16:15. As he liked to ski "off trail," it was assumed that he may have skied off the Toll Road and gotten sucked down toward Ranch Valley. A search was initiated with the assistance of Mt. Mansfield Ski Patrol. The subject ended up finding his way back to the ski area, breaking into a lift shack and calling 911. He was cold and wet but otherwise unharmed. He had been on the backcountry Bruce Trail, followed it downhill until he lost it, then left his skis and hiked back uphill to the ski area."
