Waterskiing as ski crosstraining

Not sure if anyone else is into waterskiing all that much, but its almost that season, and i definately reccomend it to anyone who can do it on a frequent basis. Great for the legs for endurance (water is alot more resistent then snow) and its just damn good fun, its all that keeps me busy from winter to winter

 
bullshit gallant, it takes more balls to go 35-40 mph behind a boat (60mph + if you measure it as you cut across the wake) then it does to skate around...try falling at 60 into a wake, haha dipshit

I'm no big Waterskier, so corret me if I'm wrong, but waterskiing doesn't hold a snowballs chance in hell of being a fraction of technical difficulty involved in inline skating. Sure, its tough on the legs, carving whatever, but realistically its the same motions as on the snow. I can't think of any better cross training for jib skiers than inline skating. So many of the skills are translatable from concrete to snow. I'd be amped to put my face into the lake at about a buck Kmh (I'm Canadian) rather than going squirrely down a flight of stairs and risk planting my face into concrete, or worse my nuts. You think it takes testicles to start corking spins on snow? Try it down some concrete staircases. Fuck it up once and you'll likely not be physically capable of doing it again. Inline skating offers every challenge, risk/reward as skiing, if not more. The only compromise in skiing is bigger air vs. snowy landings. Mind you I hail over in Eastern Canada, and I know damn well landings are like skating rinks around here... So take your pick.

 
waterskiing is actually pretty technical if your heavily into it...you figure into the rope length (u take links out for the slalom course) initiation of turns, ect and its pretty hard

and at 30-40 mph, water is the same as concrete, and we dont use helmets, so its harsh

but yeah, inline skating is better for JIB skiing, but you can get jib waterskis too, honeycomb waterskis that u can spin/flip/ride the wake on that is PRETTY close to skiing

 
meh, waterskiing isnt that great, go wakeboard, not that hurts when u fall, land and catch ur toeside edge, faceplant, ouch

i dont mind inline skating, and it is very similar to skiing, but the one thing i hate is the grinding aspect...grinds look TERRIBLE on inline skates. its cool when you get to see a corked 7 or a flat 5 though.

i agg inline skate all summer like everyday and all i do are just straight forward grinds. i don't soul or anything. just reg. grinds like skiing, that's all i want, to keep my grind on for skiing. so i either do rails or half pipe fs and bs grinds. that's it. it works so well for skiing too.

I waterski..it's a good time. Really tough on the legs and shoulders.

i was really into waterskiing a few years ago. I got very good at slalom, then last year i got a wakeskate and didn't slalom once. But this summer i am definitely learning to barefoot, now that shit is fast.

i enjoy the occasional slalom course run, but me i like to wakeboard. Second best sport next to skiing if you ask me. And bails don't hurt as much, unless you slam your knee into your chin biting through your lip, or if your board comes off and knocks you in the face, or you bail on a slider and tear up your skin.

My Parent own a lake that we had man made 5 years ago it is only 1 mile long and wide but im out there every day water skiing it is great training for waterskiing we have one big jump that you take off at 55 mph i fly only about 135 ft to 145 ft.

i wakeskated alot last year and wakeboarded learning some cool shit. i smacked my face with the wakeskate and scrapped off all my skin it was bad. anyways I built some twin tip water skis and mounted old wakeboard boot bindings on em, they work pretty fuckin good. I only landed switch 2 or 3 times its hard but I only went out a bit. Seriously grab a old pair of decent size water skis, (fiberglass) and blow torch the end so it turns up real high, screw a fin in on each end, and mount some wake board bindings on em so you got ankle support. I jibbed the dock once and ate shit once. its real fun but you can twist your knees up real bad. If I can find the picks i'll post em.

me and my dad made some freestyle water skis, their dope. super light and agile. they're twintips. if i get a videocamera i will post some vids of me on them.

ya i waterski alot of teh summer alo.ANd ya it is pretty technical, figuring how to snap across the wake and get no slack on the rope. And it is a Fuck*n tiring sport. When I go waterskiing for the first tinm of the year, I cant get out of bed the next morning, my mucles get sooooo stiff!

everyone is talking about waterskis meaning two skis, any of you hit it up slalom style (one ski)? Thats where you get the mad endurance and technical manuvers. When yor head is 1-2 feet off the water at 30 mph you fear falling. Also anyone ever seen anyone toss a 360 on water skis? I think i'm gonna have to try this summer I just need to find a ramp on the lake or something

i think im gonna invent newschool waterskiing...i was tryin 360s with grabs on those big ass waterskis...I need a smaller fatter and a 3 stage camber like a wakeboard...i think that would be the shit...imagine a big air railie with like a safety grab or tail...that would be sick

inline is so n33t! manuvering them around and doing tricks are a bunch easier than skiing, but its also a poop of a lot scarier with the concrete landings and all.

i waterski up on winnepesaukee...im there all summer. water skiing is pretty damn fun. and its not as painful as concrete, but if u are cutting in and out of the wake, and u catch your tip or sumthin, its not too pretty.

and for saucerboy, my grandparesnt have a place in meredith. if u are standing on the peir at weirs beach, and u look across, i am in that cove. i also work at the gas docks right at the weirs, so if u ever wanna see me, jus come over and ask for john
