Watermarks...?

I searched around, and I saw nobody talking about watermarks..

What do people think?

I personally in Lightroom have it set to put my email in the bottom left corner of all my photos in super small font (so it isn't annoying, but is still there)

Thoughts on using Metadata?

I am trying to decide if I should try and create a watermark or not...

You can find my photos @ https://www.flickr.com/photos/elihark

I personally have a watermark but it always goes in the corner and is fairly small. I've had some of my pictures shown to large audience's so that's why mines there.

Having your email or logo in small in the corner of photos you post online is a good idea, but if you're not selling your pictures a watermark is useless.

I use a watermark on any photo I take that will be posted anywhere online... Never know when someone could snag that up, post it on their website and claim it as their own.

I've gone through the spectrum.

I used to watermark my shots (quite obnoxiously) right when I started "calling myself a photographer." It was dumb, it was unnecessary, my shots were mediocre, it looked bad.

Then as my shots got less bad, and I started to realize a bit more in on the big picture, I shurnk my watermark, made a new one and made it way less obnoxious. It was still probably unnecessary.

Now I don't watermark my shots, because I think its unnecessary. I do sell my shots. But if its something that gets posted online it won't get sold anyways.
