I've been hitting the steamboat water ramps for three years now, and went to lake placid ramps for a weekend last summer, and while i'm orginally from upstate new york, above lake placid, I not a huge fan of their water ramps..Definately something to take advantage of if your there for sure, but not something I would travel there specifically to hit..while their water is airated and makes landings considerably softer, I prefer the ramps at steamboat. The actual ramp is constructed to imiatate(probably spelled that word wrong) a jump you would find in the park, and they have a mogul style ramp and a single(ariels) jump that looks very similar to the take off you would find on a hip. Alot of people make noise that airation is needed for water ramping...not the case, look at the vid in my profile for a look at them. If your in the area (colorado) than definately try to take advantage of them, unless you can afford the utah ones which kick Steamboat and lake placids ass.
The main ski coach at lake placid was an extremely chill guy, but one of the snowboard coaches there was the biggest ass/douche i've met, wish I could remember his name. The coaches at the Steamboat ramps have always been super inclusive to people training at the ramps and work hard to maintain a fun/positive training atmosphere.
