so artsy right now.

let's just say that you guys are going to be skiing butterlicious's with the comte topsheet materia......i mean watch life's next year! he...heheh!

i mean what? surface knows how to make skis don't they?! they wouldn't just rent a mold from "a company everyone hates"....NOT SURFACE! they are so revolutionary, they'd at least know how to make skis........right?

Hahaha, so much sarcasm. Yet it doesn't bother me. Oh well, I'd be down to own a pair of Ninthwards or Surface's. Oh well, I don't think I'm getting either this year.

still the wack rapper, scapegoat, in the aim of your hate. i'm going to be the biggest thing to hit these little kids, bigger than guns, bigger than cigarettes.

When I think about it, zaser makes perfect sense if you look past the thick wall of sarcasm. (Although I believe he's talking about the molds of skis or some shit. I'm not even going to try and understand it) As much as we deny and it and don't think about it, there is a fucking huge different between Surface and Ninthward. I'm only bringing this up since we're on the topic. And yeah, he's with Ninthward so you guys are probably thinking he acts like it, but last time I saw you ski weren't you wearing fitted pants Matt? Anyways, even though he may not be intending it, but he brings up a really good point about how it doesn't fucking matter. I like Surface, I like Ninthward. Not for their image, but for their skis.

matty wears fitted pants, what the fuck does that have anything to do with this? they are PANTS! it's not a way of life.

ninthward sponsors fitted pants riders...fuck that's the last time i'm saying that, calling a group of riders by their pant style...sounds like america's next top model shit right there.

this also really makes me wonder if people even know what ninthward is, because they aren't a bunch of gangsters that force XL+ clothing. that's actually a stereotype just like you guys hate it when people call out your company by pants. so don't be hypocrites here surface lovers.

mick, laurent, and henrik harlaut are the only people on the team that can be classified as "gangster"

the rest of the team consists of riders that are into rock and heavy metal.

and honeywell, you guys all know who he is, and he'd probably ride for surface if they accepted him. but it's too late now.

and this isn't matty hagrid, i guess you shred where he is from as well? anyways, he is where i got my info from. and he seems like a pretty legit source.

back to the point of the thread, you should be able to figure out what i'm saying, and if not, you will find out eventually.

it's hard to make money if your factory fucks up all of your skis so they aren't sell-able. and i've heard from someone who used to work for ns and now works for ninthward (not telling you the name) that the ninthward and ns deal wasn't as official as ns treated it.

you don't have to believe anything i said, but just wait for the future, ninthward is starting a revolution.

If you think Surface doesn't back what Ninthward is doing you are on crack. I am not sure why some of you think there is a contention between the brands, however, you have completely got it backwards. Regardless of what a handful of kids on NS say from time to time...Surface is in full support of Ninthward.

On a sidenote: I just placed an order for Ninthward skis for our new store here in SLC.

Sorry to bring this up but this is getting ridiculous.

good to hear that, i wasn't say surface was against ninthward, i was just clearing up the whole "ninthward = gangster" image because it's just as bad as the "surface = emo" image. and a little something else.

but my work is done here, peace surface cult, you will never see me in here again and i'm sure that makes you stoked.

No way man! Stay and bullshit with everyone, no need to bail.

Speaking of the Surface/Emo thing...it cracks me up! I am so far from emo and I founded, own and operate this company. I am a dirty ski bum guy and father!! Yes I see things different and wanted to bring a brand to skiing that was influenced by other things such as art, music, travel and life in general...but we are so from emo it's nuts. We are stoked and happy about life, skiing, friends etc.

Surface and Ninthward are both brands with big futures ahead of them. Neither one of them is going anywhere. Surface has absolutely zero debt and is taking its time developing the brand the way we see fit, same as Ninthward.

I love to see brands like 9 and Surface - it's exactly what skiing needs, a little diversity, some more choices on the wall at your local shop.

fuck haha, i guess i'll talk until this is settled.

i didn't say surface was emo! i have a similar fashion to some of the riders on surface. i'm saying that "surface=emo" is a stereotype that people say about surface and the people at ninthward hate being called gangster just as much as you hate being called emo, and i'm not here to bullshit.

my reason for this thread:

watch life and butterlicious are the same ski, and if they aren't, i have somehow been misinformed by someone who i'm not going to identify but has inside hookups with the factory. and it wasn't campbell (he has gone through enough, don't send him hate mail or anything), ninthward isn't trying to be a villain to surface either, so don't think that's what i'm getting at.

i actually have nothing to contribute to this cult, my reason for coming here is mostly due to bitterness from people telling everyone how shitty ninthward's skis are when they are the same ones that they ride on. and after my first two posts things were directed at members, not surface.

and unless i have a reason to post again, this is my last.

peace, have a fun winter and a short winter withdrawal season.

I too will post once more on this topic, then I am done and off to bed.

There is some truth to your statement. We do use the same mold as the Butterlicious, however, it's not being 'rented' from Ninthward by any means. The mold is a universal mold that is owned by the factory where the Watch Life is produced in Austria. By using this mold we are able to offer the Watch Life this season for $349.95 which is an amazing price by the way. How much is the Butterlicious cost? I am asking, not arguing by the way.

Surface has never, ever claimed that the Watch Life is come innovative breakthrough ski, not once. It's one hell of an all mountain and/or park ski though. I skied it all season long in Utah, hitting cliffs, skiing pow, playground skiing and so forth. I will ski them 80% of the time this year as well - they are fun as hell, and built pretty damn good. We used the capped construction this season to avoid top sheet chipping all together. Everything else remains the same as last season.

The Watch Life is Surface's version of a skateboard, therefore, we made it totally affordable to everyone. This will never change, we always want a ski that will be priced in the $300.00 range.

And finally, if the the truth were to be known, a large percentage of the skis we all ride and have ridden on are shared by companies somewhere around the world. It's no secret, take a look at the Elan factory, they make skis and snowboards for so many brands that share molds that your head would spin. I know this for a fact. It's no big deal either, we are all going to support the brand that we want to in the end. I just hope that it's brands like Surface and/or Ninthward - brands that actually have some substance.

Phew, goodnight.

thank you for clearing that up, i look forward to having a good season on my butterlicious's as you do on your watch life's, i'm sure we will both get the most out of them.

i will stay as a member of this cult unless you guys kick me which is fine, but i will not be making anything anti surface, as the ski company still interests me and i think it's better to have a company like surface in the scene than most of the other companies.

:)

whoops, either i suck at writing, or you didn't understand. thats exactly the point i was TRYING to make. Could have possibly been me not being able to trype whats on my mind - i'm known to do that, or maybe I shoudl proff read what I write, but anyways, the gist of what i was at least attempting to say went along the lines of what you said. You just seem to be much better with words then I.

So yeah, I personally agree with everthign you said, even though i guess i suck at sayign it.

the elan factory produces almost 80% of the skis in the world.... less than 10% of those bare an elan name!

surface , ninthward , armada , 4frnt , bluehouse , moment!

support the companies than are trying to bring a different aspect to skiing once they have the money to do so i am sure all of them will start doing some pretty cool shit!

yay everyone is happy.

One other thing using the same mold doesn't make it the same ski. The materials used can still be different can they not?

Well my roommate MC rode for Ninthward, and she is hard as fuck. Brent Neill, too.  They both used to throw beer cans at me while I was sleeping.

But no, I used to ride Butterliciouses, and they were my favorite ski ever until they broke (less than a month later) and I got Watch Lifes. Both are light, poppy, and lots of fun, but I think the Watch Lifes are stiffer and mine have been through a lot more and they didn't break.  I had the 05/06 Butters though, and just about everyone I know who had those broke them, but I hear they fixed that and the new ones are good?  They finally sent me a pair of 06/07s on warranty, which was nice of them, but it took a year, so...they are sitting in my basement with the plastic still on.

It sucks that their factory fucked up, but it doesn't sound like they handled it very well.  From what I hear, kids ordered their skis and never got them, and Ninthward wouldn't refund their money. I don't know anything about the situation with NS or Seo, but I know a few other people who have been associated with Ninthward and were promised money that they never received. I personally don't hate Ninthward but I think there's a reason why lots of people do.
