Watching ski movies make you better?

Yeah i think you can because you see good skiers, and you can use the slow motion button to see exactly how to do sometihng

"I believe that everything you do bad comes back to you. So everything that I do that's bad, I'm going to suffer for it. But in my heart, I believe that what I'm doing is right. So i feel like I'm going to heaven." -Tupac Shakur-

If you watch them correctly they can deffinately help you improve. You see how pros set their body, feet and rotation for spins and then visualize yourself doing. They especially help if you don't have any peers to push you and are at a higher or diffrent talent level than the people you ski with

i believe watching videos makes you better. even if you don't slow it down and focus on what they are doing, just watching the same thing over and over again teaches you how it should look and feel, kinda subconsciencely. it works even better if you watch a trick and then take it to the tramp.

sure it can. you get the nice feelin' only skiing can give you and look forward to go skiing and when up on the mountain nothing can stop you man

you can see how the pros do the tricks, mimic their style, and get a little confidence so yes it does help you out

I think just watching any ski videos, on NS or in movies makes you better just because I've learned more in this year alone then my friend has in 4 years of riding park. He doesn't know about this site and only watches very little ski clips.

i find it just belittles everything you do, so its not as scary. Kids on local mountains with few good skiers would have no concept of where the sport is going and what kids are doing without ski movies, so it probably makes them alot better too.

^ that was a wothless answer. But they do help, espically in slow motion. I watch all my movies in slow motion when im alone, i learn so much.

Free Xbox 360, it actually works, from the makers of gratis networks. if your going to sign up anyway do it through me

today, I didn't really feel like doing much, so i decided to watch high five. 30 seconds into the intro, I was so pumped to ski, I decided to set up my backyard rail even thoguh i had other stuff to do. By high five pumping me up to ski, it encouraged me to practice and I got a lot done and I learned a lot of new stuff.

i cant take him[liam downey] seriously cuz his name reminds me of that downy bear from back when i was a kid -d loc

I don't deny there are bad things in the US right now, hell, 51% of the country to be exact. But god damnit, our country being fat is NOT a problem. I do't give a shit how fat people are. hell, fat kids are harder to kidnap, that means our country is safer.

no, not quite...if you get the initial motion down by watching a movie, it creates an electrical path in your brain with neurons...its not strong, but when you try the trick it won't be completely foreign. Once you stomp it over and over the path gets stronger and stronger with more and more neurons and then you can do it on impulse...thats how you learn new shit...for example, in school, the teacher shows you how to do a sample problem in math, and then you take it and do it yourself.

what people said before...they give you ideas, pump you up, and belittle you tricks...

every time im about to pussy out of something, i think of how pussy it would look on film, especailly compared to candide. i then think im ahuge fag and commit to the trick

"BASE jumping is the best sport ever evented. Everyone should go out and order "BAse Jumping Baffin Islands" with Shane and Miles. Rails on skies look like roller blading. It's fucking gay and you wanting to watch hours of that shit makes you fucking gay. It's like comparing figure skating to hockey. SOunds like we a a lot of figure skaters on this site."-sno-man

There's a reason any good athlete knows about visualization...

Plus... they put everything into perspective... that dub kink rail in your local park doesn't seem so nasty when you think about ... pretty much any street rail in any of berman's movies

There's also the whole stoke factor issue

They help

maybe for style, but its just like in skatevideos, you cant learn how to kickflip by just watching one

^ the truth, i get more inspired for skiing by watching skate videos. such as YEAH RIGHT! and This Is Skateboarding

if you take the jumping techniques you see off the lip to the hill, ya it makes you better. skill can't be made in the air if it doesn't start on the ground.

You get ideas for your next tricks, and also you can study riders technique, but watching doesnt make you KNOW how to do the tricks

~wtf bra, its not a joke are u tryin to start somitnhg, ill hang u with my snowblade strap jerk!~

THANK YOU! someone finally said it -VISUALIZATION

half of doing tricks in skiing is being able to visualize it.

and when i was first learningthe first few times i didnt even have the balls to try a 3. i watched a ski movie (i want to say the game, not sure tho) and then went out and stomped my first attempt at a 3 ever, over a 30 foot table. so it definitely helps

yeah i defenatley think watching ski movies makes you better. but you shouldn't copy the exact same style as your pro idol, add your own unique touch to it

wtf! Under ATLredneckskier's post count it just has "??" Is it because he's at exactly 2000?

watching evan raps segment in happy dayz allowed to preform such tricks as the corked 720 and the corked 720.

jizack that was by far the worst comment i've read on here...he wasn't asking if by watching ski movies will you get as good as the pros in it?...he was just wondering if it helped..i think it definately helps seeing something in slow motion and figuring it out, but only to a certain point

it makes you feel like you are a better skier because they make everything look so easy and your like o man like i can do that

It helps you know what grabs look good in what tricks and shit. And if your trying to learn a new trick you can watch it in slowmo to see how they set it and stuff.

But in the end its up to you to get the balls to try it

go skiing

in a way i guess...... but not really. their just movies. you need to make it all happen .

"Over time, most people experience life involving love, suffering, passion, and an unspeakable drive for something new . . . for me there's skiing, nothing more nothing less and it encompasses everything, every day I'm out there." ~Pep Fujas

Yah, watching one dosen't increase you skills. But you can look and watch how stuff gets done or the style of it....But it they really just get my more excited to go ski and push myself.

Stay Classy Newschoolers

you see the new tricks the pros are doing..like in session 1242 jon started the whole nose/tipgrab thing.

and u can learn a lot just by watching the pros and then take it out to the hill and practise it (if u have the guts)

Don`t read the news, make `em

they do. they help you make your body positioning well and they are good for positioning. they help stancr and steeze..except you should make steeze yourself

yes it does, I read somewhere that if you visualize the process in your mind over and over again, your muscles will get used to the process so you have a better chance of doing stuff

Ski movies pump me up, so they make me want to try bigger tricks. like a 360.

V-TOWN Bitches!

I don't think they can "make you better," but I def think they can give you the motivation to improve...
