Wat makes you spin faster?

i have been thinking about this...is it having strong muscles? abs? thighs? or just somesort of talent type thing that u r born with or that u get better at with practice...

also, i thought it could be somthing like being a fast runner (not including the stamina part of running)

do realy fast runners just have the natural ability to move their legs realy fast? and then on top of that, have muscles that alow them to do it for extended period of time? there was more to this but i cant remember right now...

and less weight in your hands

to progress, rules must be broken. but don't do 1 foot slides. thats not progress.

Uhh... Actually it would have the most to do with experience and air awareness. Your running speed has nothing to do with it along with your muscles. The muscles will help on stomping it but not hucking it.

spinning as straight as a pencil, with your hands over your head.

you have to have a strong pop, and set your spin real hard but dont rush it. and most importantly you gotta keep your entire body moving through the spin.

its all abotu how you set it, and your head position. if your head is looking over the right shoulder as youre spinning right, it makes your air awareness better and its helping to lead the spin, but most of the spin is lead with your hips.

if u were wound in a large string and a very large man came and pulled it as hard as he could you would spin like a top

conservation of angular momentum is what it all deals with. Yea it depends on how you set it and how much you put into the initial pop & turn, but the more tucked you are in the air.(and keeping your arms closer to your body) you will have less rotational inertia and spin faster.

Thats why once you are in the air, you tuck into the cork, and then come out of the tuck to slow down. By putting your arms and legs outward, you increase your rotational inertia, and effectively slow down the spin.

actually if you had more wieght in you hands, you could spin faster.

when you set the rotation, the farther away from your axis you can get weight, the more angular momentum you will have, assuming that you huck just a hard. then when you tuck in you will accelerate more when you tuck in.

i dont know, but i kinda figured that out on a tramp this summer, so i'm stoked. i could never really comfortably spin more than a 3, with spotting where i'm landing and shit, but spinning 10s is a fuckin crazy feeling fun feeling. gotta take that shit to the hill. i guess just more of a wind up, and keep your head looking over your shoulder. get the hole twist-factor going and hold it.

stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

Cool tips, last year I could only spin a 3, and that was 80% of the time. So how exactly do you butter?

And when you land switch how do you do that? When I land switch if feels like the back of my legs are torn apart because I land on the front of my skis more and it forces the back down and my feet which viciously stretches my legs apart. So how do I do it right?

i would say that it is ur set, and how much u wrap in with ur arms and prob a lil bit of abs or somthing, but i know a lot of week ass skiers that can spin fast

a bit of everything you said there plus that^ of course

dude i weigh like 140 and im 5'10", a stick, and i can spin like a top (kills the steeze effect though) I dont think it has anything about muscles of strength, just air sense and natural abilities.

Equipment is expensive, and i need lots of new stuff, i love being a poor college student!!!!

turn you head turned, keep you shoulders cocked in the spinning motion til you can spot your landing, set your spin before(none of this will be in order), make sure you get a good pop, don't think about it,make sure your body keeps on spinning just consentrate on that. Listen to music

being emo actually helps, most skiers dont know this and that's why skiing is like little house on the prarie with laura ingaLLs wilder
