just curious if any people have washed dishes as a summer job at a restaraunt. did u find it hard?

it'll be my first job. i start sunday

and its all repeatition for hours on end, plus you get all greasy and your clothes reak, even your shoes. and its a smelly, messy, sweaty job. but hey have fun with it. just get blunted everytime.

dude the place i work at pays 60 bucks a shift (5 hours) to the people that arnt in this county legit haha. thats good money though

and pay attention to the pots and pans some people never tell u that they are a million billon degresee and u burn the shit out your hands.

Dude i used to work with used rubber shoes so he could run em through the dishwasher at the end of the night, either that or just use a trashed old pair cause their gonna stink forever from work.

Try to get in on some of the prep work so your not washing dishes all night, and start to clean up early in the night even before they stop serving if you can otherwise you'll be there late.

Other than that it's a pretty good job to get use to cleaning up, I never mind anymore having to wash my own dishes.

heh thats nothing, good job to jst smoke up right before, but thats just my prefrence

i was gonna do that, but i got a sweeter job doing tour guides for students that are looking to come to my school.

i usually only have one or two tours a day, so i end up getting paid to do nothing and be on ns like i am right now

dude i thought you were like 12

but whatever, try a grocery store, so much easier to sit and pass items over a scanner

they usually hire at 15

yah, i washed dishes for a couple months, it was sick at first cause i got a bunch of dank food, but i got sick of the same stuff. go into work on drugs every day, it will help, and start cleaning up early, becasue come 10 at night you just want to get the fuck out of there.

it sucks hardcore. my boss was theeeee biggest douche wever and i did everything that no one wanted to do, you get soaked nipples to feet haha and burn your hands on everything cause chefs think its funny when they dont tell you a pan is hot. have fun just donjt show up on the first day and save yourself the misery. i sweep where i work now! woo haha

dish washing was shitty but it makes doin your own dishes a fuckin cakewalk. i worked at a pizza joint two summers ago and being dishwasher means you are the lowest of the hierarchy of the restaraunt but it's only 4.5 hours so it ought to be bearable.

its gonna be fuckin boring man. right now i am working at a golf course and all i do is weedwack shit for 8 hours of the day, and i am gonna kill myself. i am actually about to leave tho to find a new job, cuz i hate it so much and i am gonna quit.

but u only have to work 2 days a week, so it shouldnt be that bad. i work 5 days a week, from 6 in the morn till 230, it blows

i have to work every week day, from 7 to 3:30 doing landscaping at a local college like a quarter mile from my house.. it's so easy and i blaze at work all the time, i just hate the fact that i have to get up earlier for work than i would for school

but i'm brining in mad bank

Washing dishes sucks, especially if its a popular breakfast restaurant on weekends (i did it for like two months and wanted to kill myself at the end).

My boss was hella tight, i probably only worked half the time i was theyre washing dishes. Id take hour long breaks, sit out side in the smoking area, or drive the garbage cart around. Noone cared. I did it for like a year, and i got mad good. I could do it fo a 8 hr shift and wuldnt be wet. Now im a cook at the same restraunt, and i tell the dishwashers that the pans are hot.

i worked at an east side marios for 2 months... quit on thursday for a camp job. It was awful. You come home covered in shit every night because they overwork their one dishwasher and go through about 20 pans every 15 minutes or so being that its an italian restaurant and tons of people want pasta. my shoes that i worked in never came back into my house after my first shift... they are still outside as i type this. they told me i was one of the best dishwashers they had ever seen. yet i was so overworked they wouldnt give me breaks and i would be working my ass off for 8 hours straight in the dishpit in what felt like a sauna. my advice would be to take it though but keep looking for something better thats what i did. but know the laws and hold them to it. ohh also from what ive heard from other people that have done it before it depends on the restaurant. work at restaurants where the food they specialize in dont involve a ton of dishes... aka avoid italian... aim for sports bars... oh and expect your hands to get gnarly

i go to work at 5 tonight and i have to close. i work at a pub and i hate it when people come in 5 minutes before closing and sit there for 2 hours watching tv and getting drunk. it pisses me off

Thats nuttn nukka. Sometimes we would get 20 pans, and theyd expect them returned in 3-5 minutes. We would have to stop washin plates and throw those in

my brother once did it and he came back with burns on his arms every week. he also worked a lot of hours, over the limit of part-time, and at his age it was illegal.

^^ that being low balled, and yeah id have to sometimes stop doing dishes all together and theyd have to start stacking them on the preplines and sometimes even the floor because they kept needing bins full of pans every 3 minutes

Its piss easy. Did that in 3 different places. Its best if they have music on or let you listen to your mp3 player....

word, if you can listen to your own music, you're set. It's pretty easy to avoid getting burned, just use a rag to pick up pots and pans every time you touch them, that way your hands won't get quite as narsty, and you won't get burned. Someone else stressed this, but- make sure you always look like you're doing something

i washed dishes as my first real job. it wasnt bad. yea you smell after work, and you hands will smell even after a shower. but it aint bad, most likely you will have all the food and drinks you want. and its a job were you contantly are doing things so time goes fast.

yea fo sho, i forgot one good benefit of being a dishwasher, you get mad food. Hell i even learned how to cook sorta and I would make the most chronic wraps daily. I saved a shit load of money on food by just always eating at work. It was hilarious how much food people would steal too after their shift.

I've been working at a restaraunt for over a year and I started out dish washing. Its really easy and there are so many people to get know and to hear stories from. About 3 months after I started I would wash the dishes really fast and get done early so i could do prep work for the rest of the time which is way easier. Now I wash dishes for about 4 hours out of the 24 hours I work a week. Just become good friends with your co-workers becuase sometimes you will actually want to come to work b/c you enjoy hangin out with them

man its gonna suck because some dishes are nasty and it will be hot as fuck at the kitchen but dont sweat it $$$ is $$$

My friend works at a countryclub as a dishwasher. He gets free food all the time and sometimes he gets hooked up with alcohal even though he is 17. It sounds like a dirty job especially if your working with assholes. Luckily im gonna be a cashier this summer so i gotta much easier i think.

it straight sucks. every one else gets to stop working when food is not being made or hwen there is no one to take care of but you have to be there untill the last persons dishes get to you

at both of my restraunt jobs the boys in the back on dishes have there ipods goin as long and the people cant here upfront and yea my brother did it for a few years and he came home with some pretty sweet burns so be careful!
