Washed-Up Skiers.

Skiers you love/used to love who are now "washed-up". Perhaps they used to be in your favorite movies back in the day, or even just recently stopped appearing in movies or have recently stopped putting out content.

Who are you curious about? Where are they now?

Disclaimer*: Many names will be debatable, which should make for an interesting thread.

Examples:

Mike Wilson

Kristi Leskinen

Collins Brothers

Vincent Dorian

Borderline:

Jon Olsen

TJ Schiller

Colby West

Let's hear 'em.

you aren't washed up if you aren't still trying to make it. Some retire with grace. Others know they aren't the top of the game but are still creative and influential and therefor should be around. Why the hell wouldn't you want to be in this for as long as you can?

These threads blow. It's one thing to make a thread asking about updates on older skiers, and it's a completely different thing to make a thread asking to list off "washed-up" skiers that people used to love watching ski. Do I want to see videos or even hear stories about what Mike Wilson is doing this season? YES. Do I care that you think he's washed up? Fuck no.

"Washed-up" is a pretty disrespectful term, dude.

However, one of the guys who has fallen off the radar for a loong time now (that I'd love to know what's up with) is, Iannick B.

I'd imagine that most of the guys can laugh about it pretty solidly. I mean, I'm not a washed up has-been, I'm a washed up never-was... but I think its hilarious.

Life ended up taking a different direction, and I'm perfectly acceptable with it. Lots of people who become 'washed up' more get over it than anything else. They simply lose the desire to be in the scene, to keep up with tricks - and lots of times they fall in love with something else.

In my case, I fell in love with running a business - that business being Newschoolers - and it was way more rewarding than learning that new trick which I hoped might be the next one to make me win a contest or get into a film.

So you say washed up, I take it as a compliment. I'm glad that I gave up on my ridiculous mission to be a professional skier and accepted something new and rad into my life. Hell being washed up probably saved me from pissing my life away completely.

Hugo Harrison & PY Le Blanc. Self-confessed "washed up big mountain skiers". Doesn't mean they're not still getting it done.

washed up skier would mean a skier who is well past their prime and still competing and trying to make it in skiing.

Dorion is not washed up. he's just moved on in life from competing/filming. huge difference from being washed up.

Agreed.

These guys arnt claiming they are the best in the game.

But they are still positivly contributing to the ski industry and helping it expand

We should probably remember that the "washed up" pros that are mentioned in this thread can still kill it harder than 99 percent of NS.

This right here.

Plus, have you seen what Jon is doing lately?:

"Since Olsson’s return to alpine ski racing in 2008 he has won five FIS

gs ski racers, with a 10 point fis result at Coronet Peak at the New

Zealand National Championships which included a field of Olympians

including Ben Griffin and Olivier Jenot."

Sounds like just the opposite of washed up.

Still better big mountain skiing than anything in pbp or MSP aside from hoji.

And that Boyd video is sick! How had I never seen it before?

Yeah, had a bet with Jens Byggmark for 50,000 sek with is £5000 (no idea in dollars). He's skiing in the world cup opening in Solden this weekend.

This.

Wilson still kills it on a daily basis at whatever he does. The dude's been a major faction of freeskiing since he was 14 and has decided to move on to bigger and gnarlier things. You see the shit he's doing these days? No one else in the world is doing it. Not to mention that he will strap on a pair of skis and show up anyone on the mountain even if it is for a handful of days a year.

Not sure where he is now, but I remember racing against him in high school He'd kill it in a race and hit the park and throw some shit down.

I would like to know what Matt Walkers up too, I use to love watching him ski but now I rarely hear of him. Last edit I saw him in that was current was Fashionably Late by Jiberish

Well recently, like just last week, he's been in NZ skiing hard with Joss Christenson, Wallisch and others training for the comp season
