Skied main early this morning...

Did a little dawn patrol up solitude. I basically skinned up along the eagle lift, but went up sunshine instead on inspiration. Skied down challenger, since it is steeper and mostly grass. Turns were good, didn't hit ground. Any section less than 30 degrees I basically had to straight line because the powder was so heavy, wet, and deep. I would stay off anything rocky because I broke through and hit a few rocks with my poles on the skin up. On sunshine i did a mini pit, unfortunately we already have a strong layer setting up on top of weak layer... Other things of note: solitude had their mobile snow guns running all over link and moonbeam (I started skinny at 5am). No eagle accessed runs had guns running (sunshine etc...) I need to get my ski muscles back...

I was the only car/person at solitude. I'm sure there was less snow at soli, but it was nice to hav the pick of the mountain. The only person I saw was a guy on a sled tending the snow guns. If I didn't have to go work, I would have tried to bribe him for a lift, for another lap...

There was a slew of people, but honestly we got everything fresh. Fresh launch off a cat track, fresh tracks down, fresh drops, fresh trees. Never had to cross another track.
Wouldn't expect that to last anywhere in LCC usually though. Were you up in fantasy or honeycomb? That would have been sick to get up in.

I'm stoked to hear you got all fresh lines! I wish I had time to hit fantasy ridge. I had an 8:00 meeting I couldn't get out of. I hit the top of sunshine bowl at 7:15, so I really I head straight back to the truck. Still had fun though. I have no early meeting tomorrow, so I'm planning on going somewhere with a few of my splitboarder friends.

Ah bummer man. There will be plenty more to come. If you ever go up to fantasy let me know I am usually more than down to skin up somewhere.
TWA, that's a good call. It got pretty baked when the sun came out this afternoon. Still really fun and plenty of places to get fresh but the sun killed everything S or W. If you want to go hit something N you should be all set.

i made it up to Tonys grove up the logan canyon today. went up to get some first lines of the season but limited myself to the area around millers bowl where the lines might be a bit more mellow but there are no rocks to be found and the trees are pretty clear of debris. there was about 2 feet around the lake and blown snow chest deep in spots the whole way down my line. smooth ride the whole way. my only concern is the ice layer a few inches from the ground due to sundays scattered rain. not enough snow to cause a problem yet but if it doesnt bond i could see issues with more snowfall.

Sorry for the double post, I hit send by accident. Looks like a few people followed my skin track from wed. I went up the a snowboarder buddy and he snow shoed so he could bring his rockboard instead of his split. The snow is consolidating, all but due north facing had a nice sun crust. We skies sundancer to post card basically, because those are very north facing. Didn't do honeycomb because I didn't get out of bed early enough to do it , and get work. Hit a few rocks, that will need some Ptex work. Saturday will be dicey for touring as everything is gonna get baked today....

Skied main baldy chute today (Sunday). It was pretty skied out but the snow was still good. It was 19 F up on top, pretty socked in... Got fresh after we traversed left at the bottom of the chute. Skin track was a little bit of pain because of all the boot pack post holes. Alta was a zoo with kids sled riding, people learning to ski, and mini kickers all over the place...

Got up to wildcat ridge today from the bottom of Alta. Pretty good snow up high. Last night there was about 6-7 inches of heavy snow and overnight we got about another 7 inches of lighter snow making for an awesome day. Super fresh turns.
Looking to hit North facing stuff as the sun did come out this afternoon but probably not enough to bake it. Stayed pretty cold so get out there if you missed it today!

not exactly a trip report, but heres a little edit detailing our first week of skiing (up until halloween). some quick lines off of guardsman pass in there...

and a quick shot of some pow turns...

north facing slopes are still the way to go as they experienced less warming over the span of the last week, will have a better base under the new snow from last storm. Some real good turns to be had up there!

Ubber quite outside of the pen today. Skied upper elevation N, NE & E today in Cardiff and Mineral. CT 24 Q2 failed a foot down on what appeared to be a density change , near sketchy traverse @ 9100' North facing. Around 14-16'' of new snow up high came in right side up.
