Was the Griffon 13 and arv 86 a f**kup choice?

I just got a new park ski setup. I tossed aside my blends with atomic sth 2 13 bindings. I recently got the armada arv 86 off of EVO and it recomended the griffon 13 bindings with it but I was an idiot and purchased the bindings without researching their quality and have already had them mounted. I mainly go big all mountain/park freestyle and do rotations and simple rail tricks. Is this setup ok for what kind of obstacles I will be skiing? if not what could I do to make things better? Please help me out

I'd say the sth2 13 is a better binding than the griffon, but not really much you can do about that now. But did you literally throw away the Blends? Why didn't you just put the STHs on the ARV?

I know people who have exploded Griffons and people who charge everyday on Griffons.

Just ski them.

they got pretty beat up as I skied them for the past 2.5 years and the tail started to fray. And I sold the bindings in hopes of saving more on the 86’s. But like I said it wasn’t the smartest idea tho. I just hope the griffons don’t kill me

There's a lot of Marker hate on this website but they aren't gonna kill ya...are they a little over priced? Yes. Do some people have problems with them? Sure. But I know people who have had problems with just about any binding. I've had 3 different Marker bindings and never had any problems. Most of my friends ski Marker all the time and charge on them daily with no problem....its all preference but they wont hold you back as a skier or kill you...some people even love them

this exactly. you're good to go, OP!

consider this a lesson not to take a website's word for it on products they say you should buy and to do your own research beforehand, but this was definitely not a fuckup. ski your setup, im sure you will have no issues

I concur with the two posts above.

This site would have likely recommended Attack 13s if you were working with a tight budget. That binding is not leaps and bounds better than the griffon, it's better but in the same class and it can be had $50 cheaper than the griffons, $40 on evo itself.

You'll be fine.

funny, my mate fucking slays round Chamonix on an old pair of kung fujas with griffons, no problems

Got a used pair of ar6s with griffons back in like 09 and rode them on and off as one of my park skis for like 8 years and while the top sheets chipped and edges cracked and bases started delamming the bindings are still fine. Not every pair of griffons explodes contrary to what NS would have you believe

I’ve had multiple pairs of griffons and always thought they were fine. I didn’t know there was hate for them here.

Marker just seems to have some stigma (especially on this site) within the industry due to their track record of some older models breaking easily, among other issues like wobbly toe pieces. In reality though, all their current designs are pretty bomber and quite honestly the power transfer you get with that toe/heel working together in the royal family of bindings is almost second to none.
