Was Mike Tyson the greatest boxer ever?

Mexico

I'll post videos if i have to but for now i just want to see if everybody agrees on this that if mike tyson fought without gloves he would have killed alot of his opponents.

He is the definitely the hardest punching, most exciting and explosive fighter in history by far. I think if you took tyson in his prime he would beat anybody from any era what do other people think?

tyson was a beast, but there were better boxers. foreman and ali were better fighters in my opinion, and a couple of others whose names escape me right now.

Tyson was nowhere even close to the best boxer ever. IMHO You got to give that to Sugar Ray Leonard.
I will say that Tyson was the most exciting heavy weight all time but only when he was in his prime.

rocky duh. how many rounds with apollo? way to many nobody else could that. and fighting drago that guy was jacked on roids. and being able to box when youre like older? deff the best boxer. jk jk joke calm down please. ali for sure - small, smart.

yall dont know who mike tyson is yall are too young or somfing

I think one of the trainers/coaches at the gym I used to go to fought la jolla (not sure if thats spelled right) the mexican boxer that was hella good.

i think ali was a god in his time and tyson was a god in his time so i dont know. no other boxer in history can punch like mike tyson though. Mike tyson didnt want to win the fight he wanted to knock you out. He turned boxing back into a fight, the way it should be. none of that decision bullshit with tyson

yea he really was a head hunter, but I think ALI could take those hits, as unreal as it might sound. He also has the reach, we all saw what lenox did to tyson, even though at the time he was washed up. If tyson can't get in there for the KO he's in trouble. He was just mad marketable, like kimbo is today

definately not Tyson since he was beat by Lennox Lewis (of Canada!!), but I'd still say Mahammed Ali for his time then lennox probably.

yall gotta understand, the mike tyson im talking about died when they sent him to prison for 3 years. Lenox louis never fought the mike tyson im talking about. james douglas was the only person to ever beat mike tyson before he went to jail and mike tyson was fucked up by then cause his fucking wife robin givens was a cold hearted gold digging fuck pit who broke tysons heart and stole all his money. And tyson still should have won that fight anyways cause he knocked douglas down for more than 10 seconds and then the round ended before tyson could finish him off. If it werent for robin givens tyson would not have fought much at all after prison but he had to to make more money cause robin stole it all. The real mike tyson was finished by 1989.

I refute what I said...just watched all his vids on youtube. Easily best boxer Ive ever seen in his prime...

fuck i tried to post this http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=000474&cat=boxer

but it didnt work, but yeah. Do what gmack did click on this list and look up all of tysons 85-89 fights on youtube. his first 30 fights are only about a minute long before he crushes the other dude in the face, it wont take too long to go through them. Just go watch them and then youll see what im talking about, there was never anything like tyson in his era

there's a reason tyson never fought lewis (of england, not of canada to whoever said that) or holyfield in his prime...

None of them could beat chuck norris, Chuck norris would just poke them and they would die, infact, they just wouldnt even think about trying.

I'm sorry but the pound for pound best boxer in the world right now is Floyd Mayweather jr. The heavy weight guys just can't match up, even the best ones. After Mayweather its harder to say, maybe Oscar in his prime, Ricky Hatton if he gets some better coaching, and of course Bernard Hopkins, one of the toughest, most disciplined and definitely smartest boxers of all time.

bump because I just watched Tyson.
I say he's one of the best but Ali and Marciano are better.

nope

#1 ali was the best

#2 roy jones

tie with floyd mayweather and pacquiao

then the klitschko brothers

maby mike tyson after that

just to make you happy they all tie with the klitschkos cause there very boring to watch..

i know its not about how exciting they are but if they are boring enough for me to change the channel in the middle of the fight im not going to put them very high on the list.

marciano is over rated in my opinion

Ali was a total scumbag, while he had your eyes glued to the TV his buddies were busy planning how to terrorize white people. He also almost died in the Thrilla In Manila.

roy jones Jr was fun to watch but he ended up being a puss.

Tyson was the best "knock-out" fighter and best brawler of all time. i spent a lot of $$$ on pay per view fights to watch him and he knocked people out :39 into the first round. looking back it was great but at the time i was mad the fight was so short!

mayweather is the best fighter out right now. pacquiao has power but floyd is a flawless fighter. he is in shape whether he is training or not.

Well if you look at records, then not even close.
Sugar Ray Robinson - 173-19-6
Rocky Marciano - 49-0-0Muhammad Ali - 56-5-0Mike Tyson - 50-6-2Roy Jones jr. - 54-6-0Jack Dempsey - 62-6-9George Foreman - 76-5-0Joe Louis - 69-3-0Manny Pacquiao - 50-3-2Bernard Hopkins - 50-5-1Floyd Mayweather jr. - 40-0-0

its kinda hard to say because of the weight classes and stuff, but he is definately on the short list as one of the best

rocky graziano, jack johnson, joe louis, ali, tyson were all good fighters. its impossible to say who would beat who. klitschkos too have impressive records.

and thats just heavyweight. guys like michalczewski for example, who has defended his title so often fly totally under the radar.

He represented Canada in the olympics though, so I'd say he's Canadian. Here's Mike getting knocked the fuck out:

To Tyson's credit Lennox Lewis hits really REALLY hard and that was towards the end of Tyson's career.
