Was Doug Bishop ever a pro?

I don't think he ever went pro. I think he was just a really good skier who tried/maybe didn't even care. he joined NS and sort of became the legend he is now. Some say if you say his name three times in the mirror you see him landing lip blind 2's behind your left shoulder.

Never pro, but was a sponsored am for a time. He had skill, and had more style than most people I knew at the time.

About to head out ski g so no time to post edits, but there's footage out there - someone else will surely post em up

I remember doug rocking a rubber chicken and pink hats years ago at blue park. serious swag.

don't know about his skiing career but he's certainly pro on snapchat, oh and some say that he's on the flabongo team

It was all smooth sailing until he hit his first lip on blind two, at which point he turned into an uncontrollable badass motherfucker, who we all know has fucked your bitch at some point or another.

with the resources at his hands, he should have been a lot better. but then again, giving a shit plays a big part in terms of progressing.

I mean I tried really fucking hard to be a pro... but I just wasn't good enough. Closest I ever got was as Daryl said basically a sponsored am. I had flow sponsorship from Head, Smith, Orage and NS Clothing.

I had a segment in a Ski Bum Productions movie, but that was pretty small. Biggest thing that ever happened to me was basically one shot in the opening of UP1.2, and I was featured in the Blue Mountain advertising campaign one issue of SBC.

Definitely proud of it, but basically I started working at Newschoolers because I had to realize my pro career was going absolutely nowhere.

Fun ass fucking years for sure, and I regret nothing. I couldn't be more thankful for ending up with my Job at Newschoolers either... best possible outcome for a college dropout and failed pro. :)

he was around 25 when NS broke out.

Actually started at NS at 24, but turned 25 the year it really broke out. By that time I wasn't really trying to promote myself anymore... I mean I still did some shooting and shit and a contest here and there but really I had mostly come to the realization I wasn't good enough.

I made a mega post of all my best shit here -

This is by far my favorite trick line I've ever done. It was after working at newschoolers, when I was just skiing for fun. Also what made it into UP 1.2.

Impossible. I don't believe it. You cannot have fun and try at the same time. That's science.

I mean if you love what you're doing, you can put effort into it and every day is awesome.

Where the hell is Chubz and why hasn't he made a throwback Thursday about this yet

Don't worry, you will always be pro in my eyes
