Warren Miller

I went to a premiere of it and left at the intermission. Not my type of ski film honestly. It is pretty slow and has some really boring parts, like there was a segment on a mom and her young son practicing racing that went on for far too long. But the event gave out free lift tickets so that was cool.

Last years chasing shadows was great, but this years was pretty bad. It was long and pretty boring, but the lift tickets are what I really needed.

I am still boycotting every new Warren Miller movie premier. fuck WME! yeah I am so 2011

what he said. nobody realizes what WME did to Warren Miller. WME basically took his voice and sued him for putting anything out there. They killed a legendary voice. Fuck WME

Same one liners, same people, same Alaska and Colorado town feature, etc. The Kicking Horse Segment was cool, but I wouldn't recommend buying tickets to see this one, I am sad to admit. It was underwhelming, and that bums me out given how it was supposed to be focused more on Warren himself. Same thing, different year at this point.

There were a lot more dogs in this one though so that's a plus hahaha

Sometimes the best movies are the ones you don't see - to quote Mosley at the end of the Montana section

where at?

and yea i really just wanna see if i win something. I haven't been to one of the movies in like 10 years. plus my dad bought tickets so might as well go see whats up

Went to a premier and I loved it. It involves some history of Warren Miller himself and how he got into filming and its really interesting. Don't go if you expect to see all park and some crazy urban because there is none of that. And yes there is a clip of a mom and her son hitting gates, but that mom is Wendy Fisher, one of the best women skiers of all time.

That mom was Wendy Fisher you fucking ignorant child. And it's about how she's still fucking shredding harder than you ever will after having multiple children.

Warren is in this moving and has a big part. The movie is loosely based around skiers going back to the old places that Warren used to go and retracing his footsteps. It does a good job at honoring the man. Plus, Warren is in his mid-90's now. He's not going to be making appearances in ski movies forever.

More like Warren sold his company along with the name and voice, and then violated the terms. Isn't that what really happened? Maybe I'm wrong.

I believe he retired and it was his son who sold the company

Warren didn't retire before his son sold the company, his son did it without his knowledge, and his son signed a contract signing away his voice, and anything produced by Warren. Also it was a pretty scummy move by WME to sue a small movie company like Level 1 for using his voice. And ever since his son sold it, the movies became ASS

I know who it is, of course she shreds harder than me. I just said it wasnt my type of movie because it was slower than the ones i like.

I understand it but I still don't. I just don't understand how somebodies voice in the future can be sold.

Like I sold the rights to your hands so you're no longer alllowed to build houses or masturbate. It just seems kind of crazy. I can understand the rights to all previous work, but it's just wild to thing that you can literally sell somebodies future.

Really didn't love it. The whole thing felt forced and there was no common string other than like '"snow" and "the outdoors". Monoski was much better than fat biking and that big air segment??? The music????? and the shots of old baseball being shaken??? Wasn't my cup o tea.

wasn't really feeling either but i did somewhat like collin collins part

I wasn't a fan of it. Especially when they showed urban crashes at the beginning and some crazy big mountain and there was no urban and one mediocre big mountain segment through the whole movie. It depends if you're there to watch more of a documentary then its great but if you're there for anything more you should go watch another movie.

I am going to see the new warren Miller movie this Friday and was wondering if anyone here Gadsden it and what they thought of it

It was SO bad. There's a 10 minute segment on the big air at fenway last year, with images of babe ruth flashing on the screen. I was in tears with laughter at how stupid it was; the crowd of old men in collared shirts however loved it. Go for the lift tickets as I did, and anticipate leaving at intermission.

warren miller was a pioneer and for that I applaud him. But people like dick barrymore who later influenced greg stump. They were game changers. Sorry nothing but respect for Warren Miller just never have liked his flicks.

Last time I was lied to like that was MSP and Days of My Youth. The trailer was full of Bobby Brown etc at that massive Red Bull XXL slope style course (Megaslope?) then there turned out to be none of it in the actual movie. But MSP has far bigger problems now after this year. Going the way of WME

Fact ^^^^^^^ i grew up watching MSP films an loved when they would come up to Alyeska year after year an you'd get to watch them session the mega booty !!!!!! RIP Matchstick Prod.

One of the worst ski movies I've ever watched in public. WME cuts almost every shot short. I bet half of the tricks weren't even landed... but nobody can tell because they over-edit the fuck out of their movies. Ok skiing... bad music, horrid editing. "This a great POV cliff drop, let's cut to third person halfway through the shot for no reason."

I got up and left during this segment. Who is the retard responsible for that stupid shit. I can't even comprehend how horrible that was. Fenway park was a great opportunity to make a sweet segment and they blew it.

Bishop - Does NS have an official opinion on this?

well, i have no prior experience with warren miller, but judging by what the rest of this thread is saying, yes it just like the other ones. But I won the tickets on a radio show and got free lift tickets, so I really cant complain.
