today on Starz Action they had Warren Millers movie 'Cold Fusion'. Now i dont seem to get why people dont like these movies, i would rather watch one of these over the newschool ones. They are all too repetaive now. Sure there are certian segments that stand out but i just think that the Warren miller ones has such a good mix in them.

btw. i loved the section on b.a.s.e. jumping, 41sec free fall is soo sick.

what are ur guys thoughts?

the best idea ever was the one that was diabolicly hatched today at lunch in the hall way of my school. It involved a boat and beer and selling that beer to 14 yearolds for like $3 a bottel, so that way from every 24 we got, we would get 12 and then never have to pay for our own beer again. and if the poilice tried to stop us, we were drive away in a boat (which doesnt have a licence plate) but, if there were on a baot, we were throw peanuts at them, cause its highly probable that one of them in alergic to then and he would go into anaphletic shock and we were get away. if that didnt work we were catapult cows at them and wait for the headlines 'police boat sunk by flying cows'. --Apple.
 
Warren Miller movies are awesome but would be better withought Warren, his son controls it now and i hate Warrens voice, he is a cocky guy too, saw him live once just brags about all the shit he owns? any one read his book? it just goes off about how big his boat his and shit like that

yeah sometimes the big mountian is a lil repetative, but look at the newschool one, same thing in every seg almost.

i dont know who it was in cold fusion...but they ragdolled so many times down the mountian backwards, i laughed my ass off at that!

I've seen a lot of warrens stuff, and like you said above, i cant stand his voice either. and he acts like people like it, like in one of his videos he was like it all starts again with the voice you have become so familiar with. The funniest section so far in any of his movies is where he shows footage of his old ass skiing the grooms and showing it for like 15 mins while he says how old he is and how kewl he is to still be skiing

how do you hate his voice? His voice means skiing. nothing means the beginning of ski season like a warren miller movie.

warren miller has a formula to his movies, you can see they all have the exact same lay out, but the lay out he uses works very very well, where as in newschool movies i find it tends to be just a mass of shots with no real order or structure to it, even snowboard movies have that

my dad always thought that warren miller was racist, cause in the old time movies, there were never any minorities in the movies, except in the falls section....i really dont care, but i thought that was interesting..

Warren Miller's films influenced the newschool film makers...his films have structure..comedy..everything..i look up to warren with an ungodly amount of respect..w/o warren...i wouldn't be influenced to make movies myself..

I started out watching Miller flicks. They seemed great, until I saw Licence to Thrill and Blizzard of Ahhhs by Gregg Stump. Schmitt and Plake kicked ass. Sure Warren has great skiers in his movies, but you never really get to see them. I know a snowboarder who was in a couple of Warren's flicks. To see him in person is unreal, but on camera it was lame. They had him riding on intermediate terrain at camera angles where you couldn't see him diggin serious trenches. Shit, this guy can carve 360's on the hill! What about Warren's lame ass 80's flicks with the wanna be music videos and 'Skiing is believing' songs, c'mon that's lame. And how about the time he put Plake in one of his movies that one was downright pathetic. Some of the filmakers out there started up because of how lame Warren's filming techniques were. I'll take a new school flick over watching two guys build a jump out of hay bails in the heartland of America anyday.

Warren Miller literally built the ski industry (nearly) single handedly!!!

He's begining to start showing some more newschool stuff now, and he's progressed the sport a lot in other ways too...

Warren Miller set the bar for everyone. There is no other movie more recognizable than warren millers. most people like his voice because it is the perfect narrator voice. When he was young he was a great ski bum. He always managed to get free lift tickets to squaw valley, thats was when he was poor.

His videos have been around forever so obviously a lot of people like him

 
warren is a great story telling and shows the soul of skiing dont get me wrong i love msp,pbp,tgr ect. but warren miller was the ultimate ski bum and nothing kicks off a season like a warren miller movie

 
Warren Miller's film are more of a story, the journey to get there etc etc. I guess it's kinda similar to Thicker Than Water (that surfing movie by Jack Johnson). It all depends what your after, if you see enough of Warren's films you start to see the pattern. I think its good their different styles, gives a bit of variety.

 
i think warren is a great way to start the season, you watch it and it heightens your appreciation for how good pbp, msp etc. are.

I've seen a couple of both kinds of movies and I have to say I rather like the Warren Miller films...once in a while I can watch the other stuff like with my boyfriend or something, but they all kinda look the same to me...

Yeah ive seen several of warrens movies and there pretty cool. Plus hes been doin it for so long, the fact that he still has new ideas is really cool.

^better equip. yes. but editing? 'newschool' movies have much more tech. editing. look at vyrsys that's probably one of the most tech movies out there.

 
Warren Miller films are pretty good, They set the standard for filming and editing and progressed the sport abit.

I grew up to warren millers movies. Hell i even had a nickname to one of htem. Back when i was about 9 or 10, i watched 'black diamond rush' and 'endless winter' with some older kids that i was skiing with, and there was this crazy clown who just went around crashing and stuff, and i got nicknamed teddo the clown. Great story i know

once i had no money so i was forced to find a remedial job and i ended up working at blockbuster (it was miserable). but, over the 4 months that i worked there, i spent my breaks watching every single warren miller movie. i loved them as a kid and even though all i own now is newschool shit, i still think those movies are great. the thing that warren miller focuses on is skiing, that may sound obvious, but newschool movies don't focus on skiing, they focused on riders and the amazing things that these riders can do. its like watching highlights and its incredible, but its much harder to relate to the new movies than to warren's flicks. warren's movies were about going to places that you only dreamed of and skiing that terrain, not about watching jon or tanner or pep's ridiculous athletic abilities.

there should be no one here who says anything bad about wm. he was doin his thang back in the day and if it wasn't for him then we'd have a lot less now than we do. yeah, alot of his newschool footy is from pbp, msp, l1p, etc., but its wm! always a good time.

Yeah warrens MOVIES kick ass. Journey definately the best of the year. That guy who has that flying suit thats cruising like 10 feet over verbier? thats sick.

yeah i like how it is more of a journey...makes u want to watch the whole movie more, just to see what happens. the newschool ones, people tend to skip certian seqments, and like it has been said, most of it starts to look repepative after 20 minutes
