Warren miller, "children of winter "

so i went to the ogden premier last night and i was very disappointed, there was mountain biking and a thing about a band, then some stupid guys going around trying to find hot pots, basically all of the skiing was back country turns with like some 10 foot cliff drops then like 4 minutes of park, then there was a ton of snow boarding park... this movie made skiing look boring and snowboarding look cool...... this years warren miller movie stunk. who else has seen it and what did you think
 
I was at the Madison premier on Thursday, and I agree that it was disapointing. The 20 minute segment with Jason Biggs and some guy from a band that didn't know how to snowboard was retarded. And yes, it was a bunch of pow turns on pretty average backcountry mountains (nothing really gnarley at all). Even for snowboarders, there wasn't much park. Just the one 16 or so year old kid who was killing it, and then a 5 minute segment with some snowboarders (Chaz Guldemond, I think).

On a positive note, the section with the 4 women that were killing it with backflips off clifs was awesome. Definitely hot to see a chick that can tear it up. And in Madison, we had the hottest MC ever.
 
yeah that MC was bangin! i hate how they add in sound effects when someone is skiing pow or crashes... so gay. the snowboard park segment was sick though
 
that was easily the best part, i dont know who he is, but after the segment i thought how he musta been a dope guy, not to mention a sick ass skiier.
but seriously, why was bigggs in there, i get it was supposed to be funny, but it was stupid as fuck. and mountain biking? wtf is that shit. def dont see it unless youre a gaper, or an old guy who like to watch people ski powder, with no tricks, minimal drops adn shit. for 2+hours. i can watch some pow skiing, but 2 hours, thats just dumb. warren miller is dope as shit, but this was one of his worst movies hes ever made.
 
first half was sick. second half was pretty weak. the heli skiing was dope, really showed how steep the shit truely is. definitely a bit of a bummer that the snowboarding freestyle section was more banging then the skiing, but we had some sick pipe shots. nice to see some mogulers rip it. and ya the biking was a little rediculous but if you guys who have seen seasons would appreciate it abit more.
 
the kids who i saw it with, new immediately it was sesasons, and why it was there. but for to make a skiing movie, wiht more boarding than skiing, is kinda dumb IMO
 
i was reading another thread like this about a week ago and all i was seeing was negative reviews and i was in school the other day and a couple of my friends were talkin about how they were gonna go see the premiere near us and i was like "ehh i heard so reviews and i guess it sucked." they didnt believe me but they saw it and came up to me at school today and were like "...you were right it was a total letdown." soooo sad ='[
 
It was terrible... it got me so pissed off how it would never fully show a run. Just constant stupid fuckin snapshots... Still pisses me off now and I watched it a week ago.
 
stoooopidist ski movie I have ever seen. Like I could understand if this movie was made in the 70's. I just sat there trying not to hate on every scene cause my friends parents who paid for me to get in were right there. Thanks god i had a fat popcorn or i would have left. Everyone in the theatre thought it was soo xtreme cause they had never seen a real movie and didnt know buttfuck all to do with skiing.
 
well i dont doubt that some parts of some warren millers are interesting, i say that its the ski movie for gapers because if you say your gonna go to a ski movie premiere or watch a ski movie, a gaper will go, zomg, a warren miller?!?!?!
 
haha, my mom went to go see it with my lil sister cuz ive moved out, and my mom loved it. she told me "oh yea, I saw your suit, your skis, and it was really good"
 
Yeah. My friends parents took me too. It was hard not to say how unepic that movie was in front of them.

The guy sitting in front of me was just like "I've only been skiing twice." That is the real audience of Warren Miller
 
I cant say it sucked because warren miller played a huge role in the ski production industy, but i can say i was dissapointed with the lack of quality skiing
 
It sucked so bad that I was really trying to like it but I hated it and I was with my friends and their parents so it was difficult to say it was awesome when it wasn't. I just wanted to go back to the hotel room and watch reasons so they could see what good skiing really is.
 
^Don't worry about it. The five shots of colby james west and five minutes of Andeas Hatveit, Dumont, Jon Olsson and what not were definately the most ill. The rest of the movie, however was not.
 
By the way guys, Warren Miller has nothing to do with these films, the director is Max Bervy, NOT Warren Miller.

A cool segment was the ski jousting shiznit... the mountain biking thing was stupid.
 
did you see last years Warren Miller(something like "Natures Playground") and if so was it better or worse? because i thought lasts years was excellent

This was the first year in 15 years straight that I didn't see the new Warren Miller movie because they really have gone in the toilet and just aren't truly 'Warren Miller' films any more.
 
the part where they decided to take like pro racers and throw them up alaska...what?...

i dont think i saw a full take off to landing in the freeski part either they just kept cutting the shot. i want to shoot whoever edited that.

the only part i really liked was the intro it got me pumped, and the 4 girls. the snowboarder guy that was like 16 was pretty cool too
 
Well the general crowd of warren miller are the older generation and the gapers of the earth. It wasnt intended to be a freeski movie. It's warren miller fashion. However, it has lost its charm and tradition with warren miller narrating, and I thought a lot of the scenes were junky. I did like the filming and it was cool to see all the audience getting stoked on the freeski section. So i give it a C- over all

^ yeah no kidding. some shots were amazing quality but would cut out after 0.00005 seconds. Plus ever since the producers have changed or whatever its just one really big commercial. Driving jeeps through snow..drinking corona after skiing..eating a nature valley bar on your way to the mountain!! worst movie I have ever seen
 
has Warren Miller Movies are for old men, and peopel who go skiing for the "apres" more than the skiing.

Never have I see a movie (with exception to the other warren miller films) with big names doing so little. Jamie Pierre's segment was a 15ft drop and Candide Thovex had 30 seconds of front flip.

But hey, I got to see 30min of that band, and another 20 min of them sucking on the hill. Its nice when a ski movie has more than just pure ski porn, but WTF If I want to see old guys suck I can watch that from the chair lift.
 
The only premiere with in 120590130 miles of me. So I guess Ill still go anyways. Gives me something to do.
