ya, so as many of you may or may not know, the RIAA (music people) are starting a huge campaign to get rid of file sharing. Basically, my words of wisdom I've gotten from al the reading and talking to peopole about it is this

stay off of kazaa and any other major file sharing networks/programs

chance are you'd be fine, but there's a slight chance you could be facing 15 g's a song. so ya, just a heads up.

they are going after people who share a 'significant' number of songs if you are just downloading not sharing they really dont care as much.

After i DL i move all files out of the shared folder and so everytime i log on im not sharing..once i dl i get rid of em.. i'm pretty much safe.

guys guys guys... MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of people download music. Probably 90% of those millions from Kazza. Unless you are sharing thousands of files.... i wouldnt worry about it... the RIAA has NO control over music sharing.. They just realized how the selling of music is quickly vanishing.. so what to do? Threaten people, and maybe a few will stop.. That's ridiculous.. they will not get you..

thay cant catch everyone. i dont know 1 person that hasnt downloaded a song. they would have to fin everyone. i bet the ppl that started the organization download too.

My house was raided not too long ago and they took my computer. The purpose they were here wasn't for mp3s or whatever, but the police have the right to prosecute me for it if they want.

They had the power to take all my shit and if you have a full hard drive with this stuff on it then they can take yours too.

Not that they would, but they could.

Yeah you need to have a significant amount of songs on your computer and you have to be sharing all of them. Plus the songs you have need to be from the same record company that is looking/sueing for file sharing. But I didn't know the RIAA or whatever is taking action, screw them.

im with 221, they play music for a living, they should be happy enough. i dont see local bands playing for money, you are suposed to play for fun, and you dont need a big paycheck to continue.

 
i agree w/ 221. im a musician too, and i would be thrilled if i could make a living off of it. Fuck them wanting millions and millions of dollars. id be happy w/ 50 grand a year.

I think it's all bullshit. I find it hard to believe that they can bust people for it cause if they bust one person and not everyone, that isn't treating everyone equally. And know Americans and how if they get screwed they wanna take everyone else down with them, they'd have a big law suit about equal rights or some shit. I don't think it's gonna go down. They're only doing it cause CD sales have dropped like crazy and they're going about it the wrong way to solve it. If artists and record companies weren't so greedy and sold cds for like 10$ people would buy... whatever. If ya like the artists enough, support em, buy a cd.

cds are getting so cheap now because of programs like kazaa. i remember when a new cd came out and it was on sale for like $21, now they come out new and are on sale for like $14.

well i used to be a kazaa/mirc fiend dling a bunch of shit but in the past 4 months i havent had that much computer use at all. i have baught maybe like 5 or 6 cds since i havent been able to rip music off the net that much and i find that buying a cd is sorta a better experiance because you know that you paid for it and i dono... just sounds better

i think music should be free to an extent. i mean if you take the time to download the music then chances are if you really like the music you will go out and buy the cd. kazaa hasnt limited my cd buying all it doesn is opens me to music that i normally wouldnt listen to because i dont want to buy it. pluse those damn music artists all have way to much fucking money to care about kazaa. and if they care that much to go after music sharers cough mataliza then they can jsut suck my dick and stop buying all that coke that cost to damn much anyways
