wasn't trying to hate i just think it would be dope to see a "sesh" style jam on 3 features or so, hell they could even do that type of rail jam as well as whatever crazy awesome ideas bear mtn has up their alley...its just my opinion that in a classic jam style, such as r2r, its usually fairly clear to see who is the most "technical" skier (keep in mind r2r definitely accts for style in their judging, brogan got second i think a few years back doing straight back swaps to switch and mellow 2's to switch). Instead with War Of Rails we get to see who the gnarliest/most creative skier is...and with 12 jibs (lots of features to film/cover) i think it will be harder for those of us who are not there to witness the event to enjoy all the gnarly shit that gets thrown and truly appreciate the event..
like i said wasnt trying to hate i think the event is epic and one of the best of the year, I just get the "what if" feeling when i see a group of riders that stacked, but won't necessarily see who the "best" skier is. instead we will see a winner decided essentially based on a setup that none of the riders have seen before, does it promote creativity and spontaneity? absolutely, but do i believe that we will truly see who the best rail rider is in this group through this comp? maybe, maybe not...we will honestly see.
in conclusion war of rails should continue having their awesome ass event, but also host a jam style rail jam on a few more basic features such as a big dfd, down rail, and one more creative feature, so that those of us that cannot witness the event in person have:
A: more dope edits to watch
B: know who was the best skier on not only an insane, unheard of, unseen setup but...
C: also who would win a more classic style rail jam with such an insane group of riders
D: nothing to argue or bicker about whatsoever...besides podium results, but if everyone was killin it who gives a fuck who wins
MAKE THIS HAPPEN
