Want to Become a Rep

Hi,

I am very interested in becoming a rep for a freestyle clothing company. (Nomics, Newschoolers, TGR, Jibculture,etc.) Anyone know any contacts or how to go about this?

mabye if you went to the company webistes and found some contact info and contacted them. amazing how using common sense works.

I did, and they say nothing on becoming a rep. And also, i said do you know any contacts in the company to help me get started, I did not ask for useless posts by assholes. I am trying to get a start in the industry as a young skier and it is you people that will fuck it up for the sport. It is you people that will give us 'newschoolers' that asshole image that will drive many away from the sport and say 'fuck it, it is not worth my time to give back to the sport i love so much' And my bet, it is you who bitch about people that exploit the sport and yet you cause those who will carry the sport on away. O, i am not bitching to these two specificly, but to everyone that does this. And if you look throught the forums, there is alot of these posts. THEY ARE NO HELP!! I am done venting, please reply to this in a private message and keep this thread for what the thread is supposed to be, help on getting started on becoming a rep!

when i said look on the websites for contact information, just get the company's main phone number or address and call them or write them a letter. plus if you do that then you show you take initiative.

being a rep is harder than you think - its not ust about hooking people up with cheap stuff so they love you. Do you actually have any qualifications ie: marketing degree??? I dont think you do because if you did you wouldn't be asking people on NS on how to get a job as a rep ... no go die you poser

Also keep in mind that the majority of reps come from withing the company who actually know whats going into a product. Very seldom to companies hire people who just read about the product they sell.

Don't talk about sitting on your ass and doing nothing if you are not even taking the effort to make connections to the companies you want to work with. Your job would be communication, and at this point, you are not doing much. There is no reason you shouldn't be able to call them up or draft a nice letter expressing your interest. Don't think for one second it isn't a ton of work though. And you also have to ask, what experience do I have? What will I offer to them in my geographical location? Do I even have my driver's liscence yet? You see, these are all valid inquiries which need to deeply pondered before taking that next step .

 
Also, and I mean no disrespect by this, but coming onto this website and calling people assholes and saying that they are fucking up the sport isnt that wise. The people on this site help make up the nucleus of the core side of the industry, and if you became a rep, they would be your customers, so you should be showing them respect, regardless of whether or not they show it to you.

i'd guess you'd have to have some contacts in the industry. maybe you should ask some people on NS personally how they got their rep job. there's a couple reps on here from 4-frnt and other companies. don't ask me cuz i won't tell you!

i dont agree with shawnm1260, but i think schumck is aesop rock...anyhow...uhm...i want to be a rep too...i know nothing about what it entails or anything about sales or anything of that sort and i don't even have my driver's license...i have no experiene save taking out the trash and doing the dishes but i can do sick mute grabs and i like skiing

Do you think someone will actually just drop you a name via the internet? Be professional about it if you are really interested. Draft a cover letter and build a resume, THEN write the companies. Get a college education, get some expereince, then maybe you will get somewhere. Sorry it's harsh but it is the most common sense way to go about things.

Nomics is pretty easy to rep for.. just email them and they will send some stickers and pro forms to hand out to people
