Walls mounted backwards... idiots

i just got the walls and the guys at my local shop mounted some jesters on them... they didnt check which way was forward and mounted the first ski backwards... they then realize it call me and ask me if he should remount the one he fucked up and fill the holes that will be showing or if he should just mount the other one up.

i said mount the other one and whatever. so both skis are mounted backwards.... symmetrical so whatever though

if you see the guy wearing the backward walls... its me.

guess i just gotta ski switch... All Day
 
if theyre symmetrical then is there really a backwards? think about thatthis would have sucked on basically any other ski
 
just the graphics backwards you could say

im just pissed on the principle of the matter... lazy guy coulda just looked at a poster on the wall er somthing
 
That is absolutely incredible, I would be so stoked to ride them hahaha.

A bonus of this is that at least you'll be able to tell which skis are yours.
 
While it isn't a problem unless you crash tip first in to something (the edges join at the tails and so are a little weaker there) it is pretty stupid..The Walls say Boot Centre on the ski, so the tech would have to not notice that the writing is upside down..

im a little less pissed now but binding mounter guy should be demoted to trash duty.
 
Complain to the shop about how the core isn't symmetrical, only the sidecut is.

Bitch and complain until you get free stuff.
 
Our rep told us the flex is symmetrical but I've definitely read in various places it's directional. Worth finding out.
 
i saw some dumbass french girl in whistler skiing volkl dogens mounted backwards. in my shitty french i told her that her skis were backwards and she got mad at me
 
1. WOW! that is the most n00bish thing I've ever heard.
2. I have 09 walls and I'm not sure that the flex pattern is symmetrical...so I don't know if it's exactly the same skiing these both ways.
either way you can definitely complain and get some kind of compensation.
 
The exact same thing happened to me when I got my foils mounted last year (non symetrical). The funny thing is when I complained they told me I was wrong and that they had been mounting all of the foils they had in stock that way... How do shops not realise that the writing on the center of the ski is upside down when they mount shit that way. Anyways my shop remounted them the proper way and gave me $50 for fucking up and all of the filled holes really cannot be seen so whatever. Just go back and complain, if your shops got some legit owners they should hook you up with some $$$ or free/discounted gear.
 
I was going to say that, isnt there a carbon strip or fibre stip in the "tails"?

I would be taking them back and getting them to replace and remount for free plus a free pair of goggles or something. that shit is inexcusable.!
 
email volkl on their site, they're super fast/legit about it.

my disorderlys almost got mounted backwards but i stopped the guy. thats why i always stand there when they're getting mounted.
 
the thing is i worked there for like a month last winter, they already hook it up with employee deals and the owner treats me like a good buddy.... like free beers in the wax room.

i just need to know if it really will make them ski differently...

Disorderlys are definitely totally symmetrical. It's hard to tell from the graphic which end is which anyway.

And don't stand and watch, that's the most annoying thing you can do.
 
not totaly relavent to the thread but have the durability isuses with last years walls been dalt with in the 08/09 walls? would really like to know
 
ive heard the top sheet could possibly chip a little. i had the last years model too. i can let you know in the middle of the winter, my last years were just chippin a bit, nothin big
 
agreed and i even had a guy bring in a pair this year and he had post-its saying tip and tail and i was like geez thanks. tech must not of been paying any attention. just hope he read enough to know that you drill with a 3.5...
 
My local shop mounted on of my anthems backwards. i asked them to remount it. they did everything for free and gave me a discount on some boots. the plugs arent too noticable in front of my binding
 
how bad is it for a ski to be redrilled? im not gonna do it but just wondering what the deal is

is it just aesthetics or can it fuckup the structural integrity? wow. big words.
 
Usually skis can be redrilled 3 times, but it all depends on the location of the holes.

They will be fine if you remount as long as there is no issue with where the holes line up.

One thing that sucks is it definitely decreases the resale value which is something you should be annoyed about. In a lot of shops...if they did this they would replace your skis. They definitely owe you something in return, regardless of it is was a hook up.
 
yeah that was the first thing i was pissed about... watever, ill just make em into a ski wine rack... fo sho

anthems, walls, invaders, and addicts are all completely symmetrical construction, meaning technically, there is no tail. the only difference is the edge is joined at one tip, which makes absolutely no difference while skiing
 
There is no backwards on the Disorderly. You can mount them any direction you wish as there is only one mounting point.
 
Just a final update then end thread..... volkl guru emailed me from their site. ^^ is right. He said that even the flex is symmetrical... just the whole tip tail edge coming together thing
 
my cuz got his spirals mounted and they put someone elses bindings on them. he was able to swindle them into giving him a $150 gift certificate because of the extra mount.
 
You guys should really hit up better shops haha.

I got my Octolands mounted in 20 minutes about a month ago. I didn't even have to tell them to center mount, they already knew.
 
It shouldn't matter. My invaders are mounted one forwards one backwards, and I don't feel any difference. Walls though, I don't know if they are symmetrical flex-wise. Better find that out...
 
yeah i purposely mounted one of the original addicts with one ski one way and one the other... i dont know as much about the walls, but it definitely worked fine for me, and was a good way to be unique. just rep that shit haha
