Wallmart: High Cost of Low Prices

I've seen it. It made me reconsider my spending habits and realize where my money really goes. Support small business.
 
ive seen this before. and i recommend that everybody else watch it. it really opens the door to how bad wallmart really is.
 
i know its bad, but its a place that contains everyday neccesitys and when your in a small town where its basically the only place to go to to get shit you need to live. you have no choice. oh and they got good prices thats for sure.
 
i've only shopped at walmart like 3 or 4 times in my life and those were like emergancy stops like there was no other place open or no other place had what I needed when I needed it. I avoid wal mart as much as possible. plus all the people who shop there are trashy and uneducated. I just don't like the place at all.
 
im the exact same way, i'm so pissed walmart came to my town, its right across the street from a nicer grocery store too, luckily everyone but the hicks still go there
 
Indeed. I had the DVD in my house once, tried to watch it and fell asleep... sooo I'm not sure about this might give it a shot.
 
i go to walmart as much as i possibly can. this is america nigga. its not like EVERY OTHER MAJOR CHAIN doesnt do what walmart does. theyre all the same. sweatshops, slave labor, over worked underpaid emplyoees. it doesnt matter
 
haha i used to steal fishing equipment from walmart when i was a little kid.

now that i'm older and have opinions of my own, i won't go near that store, not even if it means i don't have to pay for fishing supplies.

The reason I don't shop at Wal-Mart is because it is a shitty store. The one where I'm from is overcrowded with offbrand shit, its dirty, and most of the people that shop there seem to be dirty, smelly people. The prices aren't considerably lower than other grocery stores either. Until they can provide me with better products and service than the other grocery stores I have no reason to go there.
 
I had to watch this in my marketing class. It's pretty interesting how Wal Mart is so powerful that it can make or break businesses.
 
If that is your reason, then great! but just because they are"big bad Walmart" is not a reason to not shop there.
 
dude, don't even try to dis walmart. I just bought the sickest shirt for 10.99, it was XXL and baller as fuck. how can you hate on that???

Also, the point of the video was that big business ruins small business owners. My parents own a small business that was affected by walmart, but do you know what they did instead of taking it in the butt and going out of business???? That's right, walmart now sell the product they make, and my family is SUPER DUPER RICH!!! so in conclusion, walmart is good and

i dont really like that place, so i tend to avoid it. They have some decent prices i spose buttheir stuff is kinda half ass quality

wow. you really need to kick yourself in the head and realize that wallmart is the richest company in america, and that it uses all forms of manipulation. they dont allow unions in there store, if the word union is mentioned at the store the manager is automatically fired and the store is basically taken undercontrol by highlevel anti union workers. they encourage there employees to go on government aid. they discriminate and tell there managers that women are useless. all managers are taught how to go into the computer and delete any overtime that employees get. Anytime a wallmart store comes into an area all land appraisals automatically go down. the list goes on and on...
 
No one is forced to work there. If workers aren't being paid for overtime then they can quit. If they don't want union members for workers, then they are entitled to that policy. I'm not saying that I approve of Walmart, but they are very shrewd with economics.
 
Actually, I believe that Wal-Mart is the richest company in the world, not just the US. Although they are not the most profitable, ExxonMobil is.

And what the fuck do you mean by anytime a Wal-Mart comes into an area all land appraisals automatically go down? Are you trying to say that land values decrease? Or that the number of land appraisals being done go down. Whatever of those 2 you mean, you are wrong on both counts. I do land acquisitions and site assemblies for Wal-Mart in Western Canada, and I can tell you that land around Wal-Mart is always worth more than it was before it was there. Go out and learn economics/business and stop spewing shit from your mouth.
 
Whoever doesn't think Walmart cant manipulate things, is fucking insane. They are such a big power that their reach extends to other industries like music and movies. If a certain company pisses them off or does something against Walmart, they can simply not stock the items by that company. Do you have any clue how much clout that is given how much sales Walmart has and how many locations they have. I live in NYC and every part of the city has been fighting those fuckers for years. They have tried to make a superstore in all of the boroughs, and at every turn they got denied. I am glad as a result of that, the only true major city which still has a bunch of mom and pop owned shops I think is NYC. Every corner has that classic immigrant owned bodega, Greek restaurants have actual full blooded Greeks working there. For the small hayseed towns in the south its worse because they don't have the economy to fight off such a giant like Walmart. But large cities have no excuse to allow them im.
 
Dude that is the way business works. If thaey cant perform they wont carry your stuff. Its not like what you said at all, Walmart isnt a little girl and gets pissed. everything is a business decision. its not personal.
 
like they did to coca cola. I dont remember exactly what thy did, but coke had some product walmart didnt like so walmart told them not to make it anymore or else they wouldnt stock any of there products, so coke had no choice but to stop making it
 
ive worked at walmart before I screwed around in the parking lot with the other guys and shopping carts for 8 hrs and they do all of what you said and then some. They only gave me 20 min for lunch with no breaks in 8 hrs but what ever. i think i actually will work there again. ya i made no money, but i went to work, did absolutley no work could care less if they fired me. if you dont like what walmart pays then dont work at wal mart
 
I never shop there either because when they came to town a bunch of little local guys that didnt know any thing but their bisness got run out of town and now what do they do.
 
What happends is Walmart runs the business down the tubes and then the business trys to sell it but who wants to open a store and compete with Walmart? Nobody, thats why they go down.
 
Wallmart is a great business. Great in the sense it is very powerful and successful. It is also most likely one of the companies that has the least ethics, and I'm not saying just business ethics, but also human ethics. I'm sure wallmart, like every giant profitable corporation is great for the entire economy, but it kills local economies and directs all the money towards very few people's pockets.

Wallmart blows.
