I'm really hoping that this incident doesnt prevent people from coming here. :(We have a great park and most of the time its a mellow scene. I live up here, theres only like 5 kids on NS that live up here and regularly ski... Fuck. I mean even the NS cover page is a Bear local and my best friend Sean McGowan. Please dont judge off of one incident. I was so happy that you guys came up here and I was so thankful for the turnout. I may have lost some respect for Tom but the way I feel doesnt change anything. In life there will always be haters, as skiers, we are disliked by snowboarders because we're different. Just please dont judge the Mountain I grew up skiing on and skiied my whole life on just because of what happened.

i didn't hear one word from any of the competitors/media/judges complaining about the mt or the features...

it is sad though that a small group of people stuck in the 90's can tarnish an otherwise great event

keep doing what you're doing boys, eventually the converts are gonna eat crow... or fists

 
I would love to go shred Bear's park. The features in there always look so sick but I don't think I will go because the scene is so wack. Bear has to figure it out to attract more skiers.Congrats to Craig on the course and Tom on the win!
 
I'm a snowboarder and I live up in bear and I've got nothing against skiers. I think its fucking sick, and the locals up here are some of the most amazing people I've met.

It's a shame bear would get a bad name off of tom's issues with just a couple people.

Would be so unfair to Craig and Clayton and everyone that put a shitload of effort into this skier comp.
 
Exactly what I'm trying to prevent. It was ONE crew of people that ALWAYS hate on skiers. EVERYWHERE. It isnt all the time. I literally ski every day. It was just weekend bullshit.
 
dude the bear mountain scene, and pretty much all of california scene is way different than the east coast, assuming your from the east coast.
 
kooks can put anything on their feet, skis snowboards snowblades. doesn't matter what's on your feet but what's in your head.

I wasn't even there and I want to punch someone in the face. I can't imagine being followed around and harassed all day....how did you guys not end up scrappin?
 
word. I also ski with only snowboarders at bear, and its a mix of noobs and shredders, so everyone is just out to have a good time, regardless of attire or skill level. that's the way it should be, fuck this "I'm better than you" mindset that everyone seems to have.
 
Bunch of rich white kids acting tough. Snowboarding and skiing are the two least gangster sports ever invented.
 
I've heard bad things about the snowboarders at Bear in the past and this more or less confirms them. Despite Keenan's pleas to not allow this incident to influence my opinion regarding the mountain, it has. The parks look amazing and Craig definitely knows what he's doing, but I'm not going to take a trip out west only to be harassed by some douchebags. Even though it probably wouldn't happen, I still wouldn't take the risk of ruining my trip. If I was the management at Bear, I would try to find out who the dickheads were and take action. Chances are it would be impossible to figure it out, but I would certainly try. An infuriated person is a determined person.
 
I don't really get why every one is getting their panties all in a bunch over this, who cares if you ski at bear and some stupid bro boarder makes fun of you? What is he gonna do, fight you? Wouldn't affect my day at all.
 
Good to see people bringing point break to the mountain. Honestly, you're going to get that pissed about some hipster moustached people talking shit to you? Get over it. Most of those people are transplants anyway, so they don't have any room to be talking shit in the first place. They're stuck in Big Bear for their 20s, I couldn't imagine anything shittier than that.

I've ridden Bear many times and have had 0 problems. If you don't suck and don't look like a douche no one is going to talk shit to you.

Bear is nowhere near as big a fashion show as Summit.

You want to get some respect? Localize Bear Mountain. See someone that didn't go to grade school with you? Start slashing tires, throwing rocks, sending people home and create the all out skier vs. snowboarder war. If it works in Palos Verdes, it can work for Bear. Skiers and snowboards have the feelings of entitlement, but none of them will actually follow through when push comes to shove.

 
Did you not read the post on the last page about the guy who was jumped by 5 guys in the parking lot? It's not cool to have to worry about getting assaulted while skiing.

although i'm sure the same snowboarders who are so hard that they hate on all skiers are too hard to admit they watched the disney channel as a kid. because that wouldn't be hard at all.

P White and I had the same thing happening to us when we were there a few years ago. Shit is pathetic.
 
Nope, I missed that one, but yeah that is just pathetic. If I saw that happening in the parking lot at my local mountain I would freak on them.
