Wallisch/Brogan/Hornbeck/Delorme Jiberish Edit.....

so whack afterbang is the new thing huh? insert "behind snowboarding by 5 years" comment here. delorme's style is better than all of em and he don't do no forced afterbang.

so fucking dope. seriously my fave edit of the season. mebbe tied with sammys joss. but so fucking dope. that butter hand drag... uuuuuuh. and the afterbang if you wanna call it that is dope as fuck. i like it.

i don't get it.

wasn't afterbang sort of an unspoken thing before it was called out, like you want to look like you ride away like you don't give a flying fuck? that's the reason people do it isn't it?

well, if people are doing it on purpose and admitting it, it sort of defeats the purpose doesn't it? it's kind of like, yeah i do force my style because i pretend to make myself look like i don't give a fuck instead of just simply not giving a fuck. wallisch is solid, i feel like he doesn't even need to force the whole afterbang thing because if he didn't it was just flow more, and look better in my opinion.

if you have an answer for that one please tell me, it actually makes no sense to me.

*note* i'm not hating, i'm curious...so do not say "let them ski how they want to." or else you aren't contributing to the argument, of course i will let them ski how they want to, you would just be starting a never-ending path that leads to...nowhere.

i can answer your question perfectly. why did they do it? because they felt like it. because maybe it let them have .005% more of a good time. because maybe they don't care what kids on NS are going to think. probably because it was fun, they seem like goofy dudes, and they just felt like it. i know one thing, they sure as hell didn't spend 34 hours debating back and forth whether it was cool or not. they just did it cause they want to...and that should be good enough. skiing is fun, you guys should try it.

In my opinion there is no such thing as afterbang. Its just steeze. Its their style...Thats why skiing is dope isn't it?? You can do whatever you want and look however you want while doing it. Personally, I love the "afterbang" steeze that those guys have. To me the standing straight up like a statue after landing isn't a style, it's claiming and just sayin' "Yeah I stomped the shit out of that trick standing straight up with no movement. WHAT!!!!"

With all the hate that happens when these guys drop a new edit, I seriously hope they ignore all of it and just keep doin their thing. Easily some of the best skiing I have seen. They can film something like that in a day and half. and I know when I'm riding I'm having fun, so it would only seem right to me that they can just make it look that good while they are having fun, and that just blows my mind. p.s. hand-drag was the most rediculous thing I have ever seen. along with those switch ups..... ehhhhh (big jissimy load on my screen)

I'd just like to take this opportunity to point out that "forced" style is kind of a stupid concept, anything you do in skiing is going to be somewhat forced because you have to tell your body to do something. Not sure if you've tried skiing without "forcing" your body to do something particular but I'm pretty sure you'd fall over. and I'm also fairly confident tom's body doesn't naturally fall into the "ride away" position. of course people are trying to do it. saying someone forces a style to me is like saying oh they force themselves to be good by throwing tricks instead of just sliding over things. maybe that'll make sense...

Of course you have to use force to do a trick.

The point I think is more along these lines.

Take the example of a guitar player, I think it really is a good example.

A crappy guitar player will play a certain lick, and it will be kind of choppy, kind of sloppy, kind of lacking in feeling, in style, in tone, in subtlety, in sustain, etc. This is comparable to a sloppy, sketchy skier who you can tell is struggling.

A pretty decent guitar player will play it smooth, wil hit the notes cleanly and will generally sound like they know what they are doing. This is like the hundreds of skier we have today. They are solid, they can play their shit, they can stomp their shit etc, but theres nothing really SPECIAL about them.

Then there's an amazing guitarist. There's that guy who is playing that same lick, but he is playing it with SO much feeeling. Every note is like magic. The whole thing just sounds like it came straight out of his heart and through his fingers and there was no hesitation, no barrier, between him and his expression on his instrument. He brings a certain flavour, a certain in-tuneness, a certain freshness and really a sense of WONDER to his playing. This is what I want skiing to be like. This is what I think skiing can be like.

Then there is that guitarist who is solid, he knows what he is doing and he can actually express himself quite nicely on the guitar, and is just so solid and stuff its like wow that guy is cool to watch and pretty steezy. But he watches these guys that are really like doing their own thing on the guitar, like being ONE with the guitar, like realllly PLAYING the guitar, being the guitar, whatever. And then he's like wow look at that guy bend and vibrato so hard! It sounds so cool! Im gonna do that! But then instead of actually doing it from his heart, he plays his lick in his nice solid way which is real to him, but then he FORCES this unnatural bend and vibrato into his playing, trying to mimick some idea he has of what would make his playing sicker, without really FEELING the playing, without really expressing himself through his instrument from his heart. This is what I see in Wallisch and Brogan's skiing, personally.

I hope that helps.

When I say skiing can be about expression and about art, this is what I mean.

^ i think your ability to judge style is a bit off...

brogan seems like a real nice kid and is obviously a steezymothafucker but he just doesn't have what wallisch has.

tom just stomps the shit out of everything, afterbang is part of his trick and is doing far more techincally shit. the kid has natural talent for Gd skiing , its how it is

ive seen brogan ski in real life, never thought he would be a SU no offence, kid's definitely more styley than me but he's not at wallischs level at all

haha Brogan is 16!! So much time to grow, but amazing at how comfortable he is already in the air and on rails! He also has I am sure been the kid who is the best in his crew, wait till he goes to park shoots and has guys like Wallisch, Hornbeck Delorme pushing him...he will be a FORCE to be reckoned with!

Brogan, certainly the most stylish in his home crew by far, but IMO, Sean Jordan has more natural talent, Jon will probably agree. hell I think nips has bigger bag of jump tricks, however I am biased. being best is subjective, that whole crew has a ton of fun when they ski together. It's fun to watch.
