Shoes wouldn't absorb water that quickly anyway. They wouldn't make a difference other than that your feet can move faster with lighter shoes.

Yeah, It's real. If you think about it is pretty obvious. Did they walk on water? No. Was it "real"? Of course, they didn't use any type of computer special effects, they just used a submerged bridge.
