Waking life

if you haven't seen waking life, you definitely should.

there's one part in it that says "our cells are completely regenerating every 7 years. we've already become completely different people several times over and yet we always remain coincidentally ourselves."

i think its pretty weird to think about...

such a good movie that really makes you think. and yeah that thing you said, its such an amazing idea. the ideas they have in there are so crazy. like the quote that when you dream it seems like a whole day went by but it was only like 5-8 hours in real life. so when you're dead, your mind is still functioning and dreaming for 6 minutes, that 6 minutes could be an entire lifetime in the dream world or heaven.

i'd definately see this movie. the art style is really creative and kinda trippy

thats one of my favorite sayings from the movie. it really makes you think. everyone should buy it cause its only like 8 bucks

yeah that movie was the shit, I got it used at blockbuster for $5 & was hyyyped on it. I also suggest A Scanner Darkly, I actually liked it a little more than waking life.

"I keep thinking about something you said.

Something I said?

Yeah. About how you often feel like you're observing your life from the perspective of an old woman about to die. You remember that?

Yeah. I still feel that way sometimes. Like I'm looking back on my life. Like my waking life is her memories.

Exactly. I heard that Tim Leary said as he was dying that he was looking forward to the moment when his body was dead but his brain was still alive. You know they say that there's still six to twelve minutes of brain activity after everything else is shutdown. And a second of dream consciousness, right, well, that's infinitely longer than a waking second. You know what I'm saying?

Oh, yeah, definitely. For example, I wake up and it is 10:12, and then I go back to sleep and I have those long, intricate, beautiful dreams that seem to last for hours, and then I wake up and it's ... 10:13.

Yeah, exactly. So then six to twelve minutes of brain activity, I mean, that could be your whole life. I mean, you are that woman looking back over everything.

Okay, so what if I am? Then what would you be in all that?

Whatever I am right now. I mean, yeah, maybe I only exist in your mind. I'm still just as real as anything else."

so what if i really am dying right now, looking back on my life? if those "déjà vu" moments are really just me remembering so well of certain times during my "life"...

I watched it for the first time in a philosophy class my first year of college. One of the few days I was stoked to be in class

i guess it points out some interesting shit, but thats not what i want in a movie. i don't wanna have to sit there and analyze everything every 5 seconds. but thats just me. i guess you have to be in that kinda mood.

my sister was in art school, and sent it to me... it is so amazing, it really points out things that you never think about, but that are really important

vanilla sky is somewhat in the same vein. good movie as well, but i don't mean to compare the two...

theres one part i really liked and has been stuck in my head ever since i saw itits the scene with the jewish looking dude on the bridge and the thing he says is that the greatest self awareness you can ever reach is when you realize you are a part of someone elses dream, thats when you are truly free to do whatever you want.
its an odd thing to think about but ive been thinking about it so much recently

yea after watchin that scene i just lay around thinking about that for like days on end.

the thing about the movie is there is so much to grasp at once, i can only watch a scene or two then i have to stop and thnk about what i just watched. soo deep, makes you think hard

I saw this movie a long time ago, and I dont' think i was mature enough to appreciate it. definitely worth another go around

wow, i wish your karma could go to a million for letting me know about this. that was so sick. left me feeling kind of odd, but it was so cool. thank you.

it takes way more than one night to figure it out. but keep trying and when you figure out what works for you, its amazing

so there is a part from that scene that must be directly after the part that you posted but it has been driving me crazy lately (hence the bump). the part i am referencing is said by the guy and he is talking about some test where they have people try to solve sudoku's or whatever.anyone know what im talking about?i guess im curious if that was an actual study or what.any help would be very appreciated. also, where did that part of the script come from? id like to read that part. i will look it up right now.
