Its sooo fun to go out behind the jet ski early in the morning or just before sunset when its pure glass and you can just glide. sooo fun. i set up 2 rails in about 8 feet of water, PVC made just like ski rails, after a few tries i nailed it. if you dont have one, just pick up an old LF faction, take off the fin, and have a blast!

i was wakeboarding like one or two times and those wakeskate fuckers keep showing how badass they are and i feel like a complete idiot for not being able to do it with the bindings thingys and they fuck shit up just standing on those things

I find wake skating really hard. I'm suffiecent at all other water sports, including wake boarding (never really skate boarded though) but I can't get the hang of it. It hard to even jump the wake without eating shit, and that fact alone makes it too boring to keep with it. I'd rather just surf.

i stomped a pop shuv it once and i was the happiest man alive

i go at a cable park, in fact i might be going this sunday. tons of fun

Wake skating is one of my favorite things during the summer, I got a Drew Mcguckin Gator skate that I use at my local cable park (Wake Nation) Thing is ridiculous on sliders cause it has a durasurf plastic bottom and slides like butter.

Then for the lake I have a first gen Liquid Force Obscura. It gives you so much more pop off of the wake since its a bi level (Springy fiberglass top board, wood bottom)

I still prefer wakesurfing to skating. It takes forever to learn something new cause when you fall it takes so long to get back up and try it again. Not to mention the the grip tape rash you get when you fall on the board, they use something ridiculous like 10 grit to help with the water. Either way its still super fun. Having the freedom of moving your feet around and doing flip tricks is way better that wakeboarding in my opinion. Its definitely something different, in a good way.

And does anyone know if 6.0 is still in wakeskating? I know they were sponsoring a lot of riders/events and making vids there for a while, even had some special shoes for it. It really seemed like they were trying to make the push to a mainstream sport.

This is my skate for the summer, grind base, dad's a LF dealer so I get stuff for cheaper, which is pretty sweet, wanna get into surfing and wakeskating a lot more this summer, both sports definitely have a more free feel while you're on the board, which in my opinion makes it way more fun than wakeboarding

I have an old LF SST bi-level skate that I mess around with on off days behind the Jet Ski, but usually if the water is nice enough, I'll be behind the boat on my wakeboard. I suck at wakeskating too haha. I can barely clear the wake heelside, and my best trick is probably a 360 shove it, with the occasional FS bigspin if I'm lucky.

he might be able to give you a discount if you have a decent trade in

right now this is the only grind base board we have in stock, it's kind of a smaller board, but we can custom order more boards

Unless you're exclusively riding cable, or doing laps of a slider on a jet ski all day, you don't need a grind base board. Totally unnecessary. Just sayin...

I was wakeskating at Lake Shasta, got too close to shore, and went over a rock. Now there's a fat gash in the bottom of mine. Sad story.

Fuck, I'm jealous. I've always wanted to ride at Shasta or Powell. One day I am going to road trip and rent a houseboat for sure.

I enjoy wakeskating, but I don't do it nearly as often as wakeboarding. The thing that kills it for me is that you come off your board just as often as in skateboarding, but every time you do you need to swim to your board and the boat has to turn around, it just gets exhausting.

Not to shut you down, but if I were you, I definitely wouldn't rent a houseboat. You end up spending more time setting up/taking down all of your stuff than enjoying yourself. If you have a boat, I would just camp and go out on the boat everyday (that's what I do). Or if you have a closed bow, just sleep in the boat. And if you do go, you have to check out the rope swings. I'm not sure if they took them down, and I can't exactly remember where the big one is... But if you ask the workers, they'll tell you. They're insane from what I remember! And spend half a day jumping off the railroad tracks above the lake (I also don't remember exactly where haha). But you should definitely go! Sickest place I've boated/camped.

Damn, this seems so sick. I think I'm going to try it this summer, I have a few friends that go to this old quarry called Brownstone. Some company filled it with water, installed cables and they have a sick setup. Last I heard they bought some rails and boxes from Mt. Snow and installed them, it looks crazy.

How hard is it to get used to?

True, but I don't fall nearly as often wakeboarding. I almost feel like I'm being a burden making my dad or friends turn the boat around all the time.

it's really not hard at all to get up if you can get up on a wake board, only difference is the wakeskate will want to move around under your feet a lot more, and you have to get the board up to your feet before you start, I just put the boat in forward and push down with my heels and it comes right up, simple stuff as long as you've wakeboarded before

Speaking of cables, does anyone have experiance with winching? Ive been meaning to make one the past 3 summers. I have most of the major parts and means to make a frame and such, but just never got around to it. Is it worth the time/money to make one? Ive come across some pretty sick overhead dams and gaps that would be awesome for one.

its so fucking hard and i hate it. the only redeeming quality about wakeskating is that, maybe its just me, but i can ollie high as FUCK. like six fucking boards. other than that its gay and impossible.

read the thread..

just put the board in front of you and when the boat starts going you just slowly stand up and turn sideways.
