hey i just tried a wakeskate and i got up on my second try. since then i've wanted to buy one. what kind should i buy? i want one thats half way decent but not too expensive. WHAT KIND????

do you have connections with people who own boats? uh, try looking at a local sports shop for a wakeskate. When you start out, it doesn't matter how great it is. Hyperlite makes a good one, but I'm not sure on pricing.

dont buy hyperlite...buy cassette...cassette is the shit....they have every good rider as far as im concered....and yes its way harder than wakeboarding by about 100000 times and no its not gay that you cant flip.....

wakeskatin is fantastic as far as im concerned... i just got a ghetto hyperlite wood deck w/ the grip tape style... if you want to be more techy, there are ones made more like a wakeboard w/ like surf decking type stuff... i guess it depends if you want it to feel like a wakeboard, or more like a skateboard...

no i didn't think it was THAT hard. i got up on my second try. its really not as hard as you think it is, its just harder to control. you can get tips on it at wakeboarder.com. but the best way to get up is to just stand on it under the water and have the boat pull you out of the water.

 
Hyperlite makes a new one the one that grubb uses that is not wood but its still heavy enough that it doesnt float out from under you in the air like the earl ones did.

You can put skag in it and it has a real concave deck and actually has a 3 stage rocker like a wakeboard. It has the foam grip tape which works better too.

Its a pretty awesome board.

 
i got a black cassette for 79 from Big O boardshop online. too bad they dont have a site up anymore, but try searching the net for their number. oh yeah and cassette is the shit, don't buy hyperlite. and i think he said not being able to do flips is gay because of a recent story i shared. (see my thread titled ''stuck up'')

i made my own over the winter, i tried it yesterday, and WOW, its the shit! it has like no rocker (less than an inch) and it works as good as my broken hyperlite did. since i broke my hyperlite (not wakeskating...we were acid dropping it from my boathouse - dumbest idea ever), id say buy a casette, and theyre a bit cheaper too.

I would say if u are just starting, you should really try to get like a wooden deck, the hyperlite scape is a good flowy beginner board.
