the riding itself doesnt really carry over that much, it definitely helps to have snowboarded, but ive had friends who are amazing at snowboarding get up on the wakeboard and not be able to turn and catch their edges all the time, and dudes that have never ridden a snowboard get up and cut like theyve been doing it since they were born,
once you get into carving hard it definately starts to feel like snowboarding
the tricks carry over super good though, i started wakeboarding in late july, and by the end of august i had landed heelside backrolls, frontside and backside 360's and grabbed frontside 180's off both sides of the wake, because besides having a handle, its just like snowboarding, when you get into hitting rails, its basically the same too, except it feels really wierd at first because a snowboard can flex, and a wakeboard can flex a little, but not really very much, so it feels super harsh when you hit rails, and the board has a really extreme rocker, so leaning into presses takes practice
