Its got a variable ballast so you can control how big your wake is, its pretty cool. Also, it has 2 135 hp engines so its set for power too.

nice, i got a pro air nautique, 2000. 1000 lbs overall balast but i get the boat summerized tommorow and im buying another 1000 lbs in sacs. its gonnab be a sick summer.

The lake I live on is VERY shallow in places, getting down to around 20 inches. With an inboard, there is no way I could get through the stuff I can on this, which has a 15 inch draw with ballasts pumped out. Also, not very many boats have a variable ballast like this one does, and I need that in order to get through those places. Not to mention it goes 0-30 in 3 seconds, and tops out at 67 mph. Overall it is a pretty sick boat, even if it is a jet drive.

Hehe, my boat's really old but we're friends with this guy who owns a supra dealership by the river so we get to 'test drive' supras all of the time. x-stars and mastercraft boats in general are very nice too.

sheesh! We got our boat (98' reinell) for like 20,000 used. Then put a tower on it. It still works fine, and fat sacs help with the wake.

dirrect drive you dont know what your talking about you want v-drive for wakeboarding it puts the engines weight in the back not the center and adds more room

I AM STILL AWSOME

ok, sivercartel7, i think i mean a pylon or tower, a boom wouldnt do you any good, and also, dont buy an X STAR unless u wanna spend 40-50 GRAND! most people cant afford that...if u can, get a super air natique

Growing up on a lake, I have been wakeboarding ever since it first started to come around, like 5 years ago. Its a great sport and I think you have a lot better of an opportunity to go pro in wakeboarding because there are a limited number of people who have access to a lake and a boat almost every day. Most people that wakeboard only go maybe once every few weeks, when they gat a chance to go down to the river or lake near them. And even fewer have the opportunity to ride with a towline 8' above the water. That is why wakeboarding is so great, it feels good to crash into the water knowing that 1% of the population, if that, has done it.

haha, this guy I know has really old fiberglass outboard boat that he put a tower on. It's the coolest thing in the world cause he's done like backflips and stuff on it. Boats make a huge difference yea, but you can still do stuff on the cheaper boats, especially with a tower.

Ive never wakeboarded before and I dont intend to (dont have ressources etc.) but Im very curious what a tower is after reading this thread. And im not like stupoid either so dont explain to me what a motor is or anything.

my personal opinion about the 2003 model boats. x-star- nice overall wake, very user friendly interior, wake can be stiff at times for beginners but very tuneable. Malibu wakesetter- used by the hyperlite rep for the northwest, just like the x-star, very nice wake, interior, killer sound systems. these were loaded with v-drive, 2 100 pound fat sacs on the sides of the engine and a 150 or 200 up front in addition to the stock ballast.

also for slalom, the mastercraft 206. holy cow. best slalom wake ever. barely a bump at 36mph.

adios

The tower is that big thing in the middle of the boat that raises you line high above the water. it is important to have a high tow because when you get in the air, you can pull on the rope and it pulls you up into the air. On a traditional boat you could never get high enough to clear the wake.

what up, i longboard skate, shortboard skate, water ski, ski, surf, and snowboard,

i guess all that i have left is wakeboarding... is there anything i should know before i jump in the water? everyone says you get WORKED your first time out...

I think I'd need over $100 000 Canadian to start wakeboarding...

Naw, all you need is somebody with a boat to take you out, preferably somebody who knows at least how to get up and teach somebody how to get up, and somebody with a tower on their boat too. The tower makes a huge difference because otherwise, you'll just get dragged down by the boat, and it really sux.

But yea, once you get up, you pretty much just have to learn balance and control so you can start going over the wake, then jumping the wake. Cuz once you can jump the wake, you pretty much just need to have the guts to try flips and stuff while ur up there without being afraid of crashing.

We've got a 12 inch sub stowed under the rear seat where the cooler would go and a 800 watt amp, and a 10 cd changer.

What kinda boards do you guys have? Mine's a 2001 search from liquid force. I'm not sure on the sizing though, but its pretty small. My brother has a 2002 belmont from hyperlite with the belmont boots that have the strings in the back.
