How many of you guys wakeboard? Not too many people that I know wakeboard, but it's supposed to be more popular in other areas I guess. Maybe where the water isn't only like 70 degrees.

Yea, I haven't done any rails or ramps on a wakeboard, but I'm learning flips. Landing in the water is a lil nice than on snow.

wakeskating is better, but it is fun to get back out on the wakeboard and huck yourself

I've never tried wakeskating before. It'd prolly scare the crap outta me since I can hardly stand on a skateboard. I like being strapped 'securely' onto things.

ya but doesnt it hurt when you catch you front edge and get a face full of water, anyway wakeskats allow you more freedom.

Of course it hurts. I had one of the worst falls ever last summer right before this huge party. I was supposedly knocked out for 1 hour because I landed really wrong while doing a 180 and landed flat on my face. You can usually just laugh that kibda crap off when u fall onto some pow' cuz u just get scraped and not like sucked into the lake.

i've wakeboarded a few times, its real fun. It would be cool if someone made twin tip water skis or have they already, that would be cool to try out

What would you do with them? You don't have like half pipes and stuff. I guess you could do ramps and rails, but that'd be kinda dumb. I guess I'm kinda partial to water skiing, but still...

you could land switch, you could go off jumps switch or just mess around in the wake. I dunno much about the sport but i think it would be fun

people have already done new school shit on waterskis,i seen some guys do lincolns,corked 3s,7s,rodeos and shit,it was fucken awesome

one day when i got bored from wakeboarding, me and my cousin started messing around with waterskis. i can 180 and land switch (only on calm days), but fell pretty hard the first few times trying it. in a wakeboard vid called BOOMBOX, one of the riders does a wake-to-wake backflip on waterskis...pretty cool eh. i think, before long, twin tip waterskiing will develop too.

yeah i thought about trying 'newschool waterskiing'...it would be slick...hitting up sliders and kickers, and throwing like misty 5's off of the wake...mmmmmmmmmm misty 5's

oh yeah and the thing is theyve had like trick skis, the equivilant of skiboards, in waterskiing for like the last 20 years...its time somebody steps up and makes twin tip waterskis...and you know what would be even better? water tele's....carving in those would be mad.

and in response to the original question i wakeboard, and it cant be too cold in western usa if i do it in quebec and eastern ontario.

wakeboarding is the perfect thing to stop yourself from going crazy in the summers... having a boat and living 5 min from a lake is also a bonus when we start getting our 90 + degree summer days...

Yea, in the summer if you get bored, you can just drive up to a lake or river and go boarding. This year I'm going up to a camp in Washington so I'll be able to do a ton of new tricks. Then of course show them off at shasta.

I live on conesus lake in NY, I wakeboard almost every day. So far I can backflip, frontflip and 540. It also helps a LOT if you have the right kinda boat with a tower, I really didnt progress until we got it

 
it's not really that hard. try starting off the dock the first time though you'll fall soon. it's all about confidence

getting up the first time is really frustrating, it took me like 30 tries, but it is so rewarding once you do it

 
Once you get up for the first or second time, u basically can get up most anytime. But if you're trying to get good, it's best not to mess around with like changing equipment and stuff (ropes, handles, etc) cuz that can really screw you up, except trying new boards is really good if they're all good quality.

Wakeboarding's easy, just gettign up the first time is hard. i've been wakeboardingfor about 4 years now, and i can do flips with spins up to 360. it's just practice

done it a couple times its hella fun hardest part was learning to get up but once i did it once it is easy

i love my wakeboard!! even if newschool waterskiing comes about, im staying with my wakeboard!

i can't wait for the summer now! im gettin my wakeskate and hopefully by the end of the summer i can do a wake to wake shuv it!

I wakeboard down at Navajo Lake in CO. To clear the wake if u dont have a tower, u need a ballast system or some fat people and if u do have a tower you are good to go. Wakeboarding KICKS ASS!! newschool waterksiing doesnt work out too well...ive tried adn u cant do any tricks

Even if you did tricks on waterskis, you're more likely to hit urself in the head and get cut. But ya on a wake board, if you have a big enough wake, and no tower, u can only do limited things, but still clear the wake (it hurts more w/o a tower cuz it'll jerk you around). With a tower and a huge wake, you won't be anble to help but get some air and a need for control. Fat people (or a ballast system, or like those water bags) give a bigger wake, meaning bigger tricks. =0)

i wakeboard in central ohio, but i have an i/o which sucks, all my rich friends have wakeboard boats with towers and i still kick thier ass in wakeboarding. its nice that i get to bum rides with them every so often. what i did for my boat is i bought a 8 foot high plyon from bigairpylons.com if any of you have a i/o boat i highly recommend it it was only 285 bucks and is the best on the market... great investment. i plan on getting some fat sacs, cuz my wake sucks. I ride on a state park lake so i cant build sliders, i really want to hit one bad. Also im too cheap to buy a wakeskate, so i just use a skimboard its so tight- you can do surface 1080's n shit if you get good enough, but you really cant get air.

im in the same position as you (the person above me a few replies) I have no tower cause people say that if u put a tower on an 18' Cobalt it might flip... I met some people at our lake with a BRAND NEW MOOMBA!! They let me ride behind their kick ass boat. Its sick!

if you've got an i/o you can get kits to fit the poles and towers onto your boat! i've got a 2003 Supra Launch from warranty off a 2001 model and it's fucking sick! we can get the wake to about 3ft high and the sound system is better than any ricer could ever imagine!

Supra boats are sooo nice. The guy who built a deck for us also owns a supra dealership and was like 2nd in the state of Oregon before he ripped some tendons in his knee and had to get surgery, but he'd take me and some friends out and teach us how to do tricks while we were 'test driving' the boats.

wakeboaridng can hurt a lot. the water can feel just like concrete. i chipped my tooth on the water somehow
