Vx1000 or 2000

vx1000 has better colors and but looks like shit in low light it also doesnt have an lcd screen which can be helpful, it is alot older than a 2000 so it could have more problems with it. Id say go for a 2000 if u want the lcd screen and film at night alot, if not get the 1000 cause the colors are superior.

keep in mind:

MiniDV cameras are garbage in inclement weather (ie. skiing). Expect to lose a bunch of tapes because of moisture/extreme temperatures.

VX's run at a premium in the sd game. You're looking at spending $700+ for a 20 year old USED camera (easily $1300 with a Mk1) Also, everyone who has ever touched that VX is a dirtbag skateboarder/snowboarder just like you so that camera is not in mint condition, despite what anyone says lol.

DVX/GL is a more affordable option if you still wanna film SD.

Tbh filming skiing with miniDV sucks. Try to imagine the feeling of losing a tape (60 minutes of footage). After you've imagined that, imagine losing 10 tapes worth of footage. If you think you can handle that kind of despair, then go ahead and film skiing with a VX. Not even the VX god Beagle himself films with a VX anymore.

Just buy an HVX200 (should be able to find one around $450) I promise you it will be better. you can still film 4:3 SD with miniDV if you want. And you have the option of shooting HD.

Just my opinion though do whatever you want i dont care

oh disregard my post lol. vx1000 is still hard to beat for skating imo

Yeah as much as I’d like sick skate style ski footy as well I def don’t wanna bring a 20 year old film camera up the hill on the west coast. Some local guy here is selling his vx2k with fisheye for 500 cad so i might just get that

Skaters sure are a nostalgic bunch, paying hundreds of dollars for cameras no one else on the planet would use for anything
