VT Open

I don't think it was solely because of the train. I mentioned the VT Open to Myra (head of marketing) and we were talking about video stuff and she laughed asking if I had seen the video of the train from last year. She seemed to think it was funny (although she isn't in charge of the VT Open by any means). I really don't think it was just the train. I know 2 years ago or so Keri Wevurski was fired from Stratton, she

ran the WHOLE VT Open. From front to back organizing everything from prize money and sponsors to making sure the athletes were stoked on the course and making everyone happy. No Keri explains why the last couple VT Opens weren't as smoothly run. I think they just didn't bring in the big sponsors (no one was motivated like she was), and so they didn't have enough money to logistically pull it off. These are all just my guesses as to what happened. The train wasn't more than getting a few ski patrollers' panties getting in bunches.

stratton n the whole thing was so weak this yr, they fuckin take out theyre whole park for the stupppppppppppppppppppppppidest big air competition in the history of snowboarding and say theyll compensate by hookin up a dope uso course to ride---> one that was open for a solid 2 days...

what was that maaaaaassive tabletype thing they werebuilding a couple weeks ago at the where the wall was? any pics/media from whatever that was for? i was there when they were putting it together and it looked like they were making mike wilson a 400 ft table or something

a couple of responses.....

pretty much exactly what skodeo said is right. when keri left everything really went down hill quick. i hate the new lady that does it, i don't even volunteer at the us open anymore because it sucks to have all the negative feedback from the riders directed at you.

the massive table top that you saw was the waste of space big air jump for the us open. absolutely terrible.

and they did move the competition to mount snow this year and just called it the mount snow open. and from all the reports it was dope.

well explained duncan, when there's no passion, things fade, stratton doesn't even like having the US Snowboard Open there, but there's too much money to turn it down, the VT Open was easy to close the books on, no big money sponsors, no VT Open, easy. its amazing that this event can't be pulled off with the resources already put in place for free (not really, its stratton) just sad i guess. I agree loon should make the East Coast Open, there park is light years beyond anyone else in the east.

Exactly. Keri was totally passionate about the VTO, it was HER event. She ran that shit and cared so much about the athletes being satisfied and whatnot. Bahhhh.

anyone know why they gave up on the Fischer super slopestyle? I went last season and the said they were going to start doing it as a yearly thing..
