There are already a bunch of threads on this, but anyways, I rode up the lift this past weekend with a Stratton park staff (snowboard) who told me no VT open because of the train last year "which fucked all their shit up for the rest of the season." Totally bullshit, the event organizers completely dropped the ball last year, and that is why they aren't hosting it again.
 
Stratton Mtn. cares nothing for skiing or snowboarding. They just have another company come in and build some actual jumps for the US Open so they can make some money and aren't capable of building their own shit. They just saw VTO as a way to make some extra money off the course they had built and when they realized that they actually had to still do work to put on VTO, because when they didn't it caused problems, so they said fuck it. Basically Stratton is an incredibally lame establishment that cares only for the money and getting all of the rich New Yorkers to their mountain and they don't even use all that money to make a sick park all year like places such as Breck.
Fuck Stratton.
 
people got fired after that whole episode, so the train did fuck their shit up last season... it may not be the whole cause for why it's not happening this year, but what incentive do the heads of stratton have for hosting VT open now?

it's not like stratton is there to serve you
 
People were fired because they assaulted skiers who were trying to lap the park.

VTO in 2007 was filled with instances of disrespect, disregard, and overall piss poor management during the competition. Everyone from the judges to the event organizers to the park staff didn't do ANYTHING to help the situation. Stratton killed the VTO. The competition was dead long before we started the trains.
 
strattons park crew kilz it .. its fun to ride with them....its a bummer that vto is a no go ...i mean damn the skiers killed it for themself ..... maybe your mommy and daddy can put on a comp for you so you can do what you want ...respect gets.........?
 
last year at VTO the people running it and the park crew were being the biggggest assholes to all the riders and specators (which is who the comp is put on for...) so by pissing off everyone who paid to be there, they forced us to just fuck with them the whole time and piss them off, partly in an attempt to still have fun, against their will to make it suck. we fucked with them real good and they got good and pissed off back at us, sucsess, yet they decided to cancel this years over it, fucking bitches, all you need to know is stratton has a part of the employee uniform called the "big black dildo up ass"
