VSCO Presets

Are any of you guys familiar with the VSCO film presets? I've done a little bit of research and they seem to be pretty cool, but I'm sure it would be easy to emulate them in post

I've used them and their awesome

I would just recommend you set the grain to zero after applying the preset and then add your own grain

VSCO's process of adding grain is disgusting

It's not really easy to emulate them exactly in post, but it is really easy to get your hands on them so idk

I've used them fairly extensively. The reason is only because I haven't taken the time to learn how to get the colors I want, manually through hue adjustments.

The look is amazing, especially with a relatively flat raw image. They can tend to be pretty strong/overpowering if the image is contrasty to begin with.

The majority of my images on my instagram use them @maxrood if you want to check them out!

Nice, does it piss you off at all that you have very similar feeds but he has over 200k followers? I know followers shouldn't matter in "the meaning of life"or photography in general but curious

Andrew has been a photographer that I have looked up to for a long time now, and he has worked at gaining a following for a long time now, vs where photography is my passion but I haven't worked even a little to gain any sort of a following. Obviously followers shouldn't matter but he is doing photography and social networking as his business so his livelihood depends on it.

Well Instagram is a fucking joke in general for this. My girlfriend has like 3000 followers and all she posts is stupid poorly-composed phone shots of random shit she sees and selfies. She started hashtagging the shit out of them and tagging random accounts a while ago because she "wanted to see if she could do it". She works in community engagement type shit for the city though so she tries to promote herself through instagram which kinda makes sense. She says people unfollow her all the time if she doesn't follow them back or doesn't post a picture for a few days in a row hahaha

I think getting lots of instagram followers is pretty easy if you actually go and try, clearly people on instragram don't care about the quality of the photos you're posting. If you do care about the quality then you use 500px or flickr or something, because viewing compressed-as-fuck phone pictures on a tiny phone screen is stupid anyway

That being said, I followed you guys that posted your accounts here

Oh yeah, I found the VSCO preset packs 01-04 on the pirate bay, but they aren't great. Only looked at a couple though so might be some gems hidden in there

It's pretty subjective. They're a good starting point but they aren't meant to be something you just slap on and don't adjust anything for. It doesn't make a shitty picture look good, the shitty picture will still look shitty just with different color and contrast curves
