i was saying that 15 ppl disliked that fact that he said you don't have to vote if you don't want to. which means that 15 people want voting to be mandatory. i swear i will eat your plushy bussy

Imagine not taking advantage of the rights you have. The right to own guns. The right to freedom of speech. The right to vote are all cool as fuck.

Y'all are like a pizza cutter.

fair point ig, just i think democracy is cringe and voting shouldn't be a right anyway, it should be earned.

i'm not coming at this from a leftist perspective

Let's agree to disagree since I'm not a fucking commie

Real talk though, if democracy is "cringe" have you considered moving to a non-democratic area?

Just live your ideals my guy. All the power too ya.

Congrats to the state of Idaho for not electing Ammon Bundy to governor. Social services live to limp along for another term.

fucking idiot. i hate communism. it's the worst and most destructive ideology to ever exist.

democracy is cringe because most people are stupid and most should not be allowed to vote. additionally, it's just a massive cope; you don't actually have any power. add on to that the awful two party system, where a country of 320 million people is forced to pick between a lesser of two evils. the dems are evil and want to destroy the country, and the repubs are gay and won't do anything to stop them.

Liberal tears this morning.

The president's party always loses seats in the midterms (on average it's a loss of 28 House seats and four Senate seats, historically). Everyone was bracing for a projected 'red wave', yet so far the libs have won a senate seat and only lost 2 house seats.. They're probably celebrating today, dems are outperforming all the projections so far.

I feel bad for the dude who beat him. Fetterman. He's not right in the head.

Fetterman is someone who has had a lot of experience in public service and is well liked by his constituents. He's not perfect and he also almost died of a stroke. Oz is literally a snake oil salesman who will do anything for money, and doesn't even live in PA. I am shocked at how close of a race this was. I'd rather have someone in office who has some medical issues and isn't quite all there than someone as openly corrupt and manipulative as Oz.

wow pretty big upset if frisch pulls out the win over lauren boebert. that's normally a solidly red district.

All my candidates won, including the Republicans and Libertarians I voted for.

Sorry, I'm not a dumb fuck straight-ticket voter like yourself. I actually research the candidates I vote for.

I thought mormons would be conservative.

They are. Where I voted (Wasatch County) had maybe 2 dems on the ballot and the rest republican. It's also a rural county so go figure but still. No blue wave will ever hit this state.

Oh i read that wrong.

The polls at the end of September ended up being more correct than the polls at the end of October. Again.

I know it's a bit of a sharpshooter fallacy but, there seems to be a continued correlation that the polls continue to miraculously tighten during October for often inexplicable reasons - perhaps because polls are often owned by or broadly affiliated with media agencies that want everyone's eyes and attention on election night? Either way, once again polls are bullshit lol

In other news, Colorado might legalize mushrooms, California said "Go to Nevada if you want to gamble and vape", Recreational ganj is now legal in Missouri and Maryland, and abortion rights succeeded on ballots nationwide, even in deep-red Kentucky.

Love the mushroom vote. Hopefully every state follows suit

Yeah, the only time Ive even seen a democrat represent Utah at a State or National level was when Ben McAdams won a district by like 700 votes or something.

Turned on right wing talk radio to see what was going on in the fantasy world that they live in and it brought me so much joy. The somber tone, the well we are still sorting things out, we have a lot of thinking to do, polls this polls when yesterday it was them screaming how they won everything. Reality checks are nice.

A lot can happen in two years.. but if all you can do in the midterms is flip 5 seats when Biden is literally bumping into walls and inflation is at an ATH.. Doesn't exactly bode well for 2024, I'd be pretty somber too lmao.

I was surprised about that. I guess that is what you get for trying to be a meme politician thinking you can be a Republican AOC. I am disappointed Polis got reelected. He is running Colorado into the ground with crime and homelessness. Colorado is #1 in auto theft and Denver #2 in rape...

It's really not in the shitter... I mean, it's not really benefiting people the lower and middle class, but that's been the case for a long-long time. It's simply "meh" if you're an investor right now - which you probably aren't. Meanwhile I receive about 6 or 7 messages per day on Indeed or Linkedin or other recruiter sites just begging me to take an interview. I'm sure that's the case for a LOT of people. That's not a sign of a shitty economy.

The unemployment rate is at 3.5%.. right back to where it was in Feb 2020 when Covid fucked us, and consumers are still buying stuff to the point where the Fed is like 'wtf, chill out, we gotta ease this shit - can we raise interest rates? JFC!'

Yeah, gas prices are higher than usual and inflation is at a 40-year high, but that's not a domestic issue - it's a global one - and the USA has been much more resilient in both cases than other comparable economies. It will take time, but things will mellow out and we might already be on the plateau. There will be a regression to the mean, here.

Don't get me wrong, inflation is scary, especially when you see prices on consumer goods jump by quite a bit compared to 3 years ago - but this is nothing like the housing crisis when everyone was losing their house left and right, and jobs dried up. Back then, unemployment went from 5% to 10% in 18 months... Instead, It's at 3.5% and there are still hiring signs left right and centre and everywhere seems understaffed.

You two are the equivalent of drunk high school dropouts attempting to discuss economics in a bar.

Just because other countries are "worse off" than the US that doesn't mean it's any less bad here. goofy goober
